I am new to AP. I set up an account attached to my usual Amazon account. My wife and I share this account. Do I need to set up a new account for her to receive funds?

GoGreen Jul 16, 2012 9:20 am

Yes, separate accounts.

Thanks. I am assuming I would have to use a separate checking account as well. Correct?

To be on the safe side, yes, separate checking accounts.

Seperation anxiety is a good thing on AP (and in other ways of manufacturing spend) - sperate names, seperate email accounts, seperate checking accounts, and seperate credit card accounts. Lack of transparency is a good thing when manufacturing spend.

AP charges a fee if the personal user sends over $1000 per month. Is there a charge to the personal receiver if they receive over $1000 per month [from different people]?

As far as I know (but can't confirm this as I always stay under the limit allow--never 0ver $700 in my case and broken up into 2 separate transactions) the sender is the only charged.

Called Amazon and the specialist told me that the receiver is not charged. Only the sender can be charged when using the credit card, if they exceed the $1000/month sending limit; they can also incur fees if they use cash back, which would be fees from their CC company, not Amazon. (I asked for legitimate reasons, so there's no danger in calling.)

If you tried to send over $1000/mo with cc, their system won't allowed you to.
At least that was 7-8 months ago, I was not able to. Kept on getting some sort of error message.

From my experience a "receiver" can only get up to $1000 in cc payments a month. I talked my kid's daycare provider into taking Amazon payments. Word got out and now each month it's a race to get my payment in first before they hit their limit!

But is a "receiver" just another name for a receiving AP account? Some folks/businesses have multiple AP accounts.

How can you have multiple AP accounts? They take your driver's license number and your social. Unless you're using fake documents, how can you do it? I know, I know, PM you...

I wasn't aware they ask for driver's license

I don't recall ever entering that and can't find it in my AP info.

I'm trying to set this up and it's asking for a website url. Do we really need to have a website to set up AP?
