Is the theory that Amazon is not capable of careful reading and critical thinking and therefore won't notice what's going on with their payments system?

Every AP question has been asked and answered hundreds of times. Nothing new out there.

I have no doubt that Amazon knows exactly what is going on. But as long as it gets done in minute quantities and costs them little, they'll play along.

So now you are answering your own questions?
My question was why people objected to clear posts and suggest the need for reading a long and often cryptic thread. Do they believe Amazon can't figure things out and if they do they'll shut things down? Do they believe it would increase the number who take advantage of AP, leading Amazon to shut things down? Do they have some other objection? I hope this helps you understand the question. Please let me know if you are still confused. |

No. Clearly many fear Amazon will shut things down, while some just like implying others don't read or think and some have other motives.

What I'm worried about is making it so simple for everyone else that the numbers using the service the way we do multiplies to the point that Amazon decides it's time to clear the ranks. So posting in an obvious way can inflate the numbers. Further, one new member of the forums took the initiative to call and ask Amazon questions about it, which also can't help. I think there are very valid reasons for putting a threshold on this and other deals and tricks. If we make there a higher barrier to entry, it keeps the numbers to those willing to spend the time and effort. |

Can I quote you on that for my WSJ article, QL_714? Long before I worked in the 1st Estate as a cardinal I actually worked in the 4th Estate as a reporter.:p

My original answer still stands but let me add this. No matter who/what it is you just can’t keep rubbing their face in it and expect nothing to happen. This was said over and over about the Mint deal. The so called know-it-alls here just laughed and send it would never happen. Where are these loud mouths now? Let me guess, stuck in a Pickle jar. :D

Hi there! I just called AP to see if they could raise my limit on my three accounts. The rep asked why, and I told her I use three different credit cards processed through AP, and send the money to myself in a circle, but the current limit wasn't enough for me to earn the number of miles and points I wanted for a free trip. She seemed concerned and asked me to hold while she checked on something.
Then another rep picked up the phone and started asking me a bunch of questions and told me I wasn't allowed to do that. I asked him why I wasn't allowed to, that there's a buttcrap load of people on FT doing it, and why couldn't I???? Now my accounts are closed down. How can I get this gravy train moving again? Don't fall off your chair folks, the above is an example of something I will never do :) |
LOL
Should I post my step by step guide? With pictures? Or sell it on Amazon Books?

Something unusual
Got an email two days ago about my amzn payments account and that it was being shut down. The reason is, they stated, is that i had more than one account and i was trying to go around max per month...the other ones they listed were text2pay and something else. I actually do not have any other accounts (family and friends do, though), and I have never even looked into the texting account with amzn. I emailed them and asked if they could clarify, since I have never even opened those other accounts and have only used this one account that has my name on it. They emailed back within 24 hours, said they verified my information and that my account has been reinstated. Yesterday i couldn't send or receive money, today, all is well. Kind of confused...i'm curious as to what prompted the shut down; however, i am not going to dig deeper at this point. Anybody have any assumptions/opinions?

Sloppy cardinal work? Fang got his accounts mixed up as he worked on his Christmas card list? And then you protested!
What is to confuse? Cardinal Fang shut you down which proves that you are guilty. Indeed, any doubt was gone when you corrupted some pour soul to reinstate you. Now we will add conspiracy and protesting without a permit to your long list of crimes.:D
