Try a search on the BA board - it has been discussed on there in the past, albeit briefly. The crux of the matter seems to be (a) it is a refurb and not a new property and (b) it is a bit too minimalist for some tastes.

Carlisle Bay is managed by Campbell Grey Hotels, the same team behind London's One Aldwych, and more recently Duke's. Campbell Grey Hotels have also just acquired the Goodwood Park Hotel in Chicester.
If you like One Aldwych style in a resort setting then Carlisle Bay should appeal to you.

If you are going with two small children, Carlisle Bay might also be a bit too much of a scene. Another option is Jumby Bay, which is a bit more kid friendly, but admittedly not as stylin' as CB. Service and quality of accomodations at Jumby are pretty high, though, and the beach is essentially private (because access to the island is controlled), which I do not believe is the case at Carlisle.
