Could anyone give insight into what sort of discounted rate is offered at aman resorts through club? Specifically was trying to find rates for amangiri in the next few months. I love the idea of club but wondering if it’s actually a decent discount or not. Thanks for any information!

You could try with the Citi Prestige 4th night free - though I am not sure if Aman is still possible.

I was looking at July 20-23, definitely would appreciate you checking! In the email they sent me it said typically a 20-50% discount on their hotel listings which surprised me since Aman never discounts anything! Anyway, thanks for responding!

Looks like Nddomer beat me to it.

I’ve been meaning to post about our first trip for a while, but better late than never. Our first Inspirato trip was a week at the Solaris Residences in Vail. I had been previously with some girlfriends, but this was my husband’s first Inspirato experience. It was so amazing! The level of service is unmatched, and the residence was stunning! From the pre-trip planning to the on-site team who took all our ski gear and set it up at the brand new ski lockers down at the base of Gondola One, to the Inspirato member lounge with complimentary happy hour and arts & crafts for kids, to the daily housekeeping and groceries stocked in our residence prior to our arrival, it was unlike anything we’ve experienced. And on top of all of that, we paid $9,000 for the week through Inspirato, whereas Solaris wanted over $22k for the same residence category. An amazing trip and a 13k “savings” on top!

We are now trying to make it out to CA in August, and we just compared 4 nights in a 3BR Villa through Inspirato to the same 4 nights at Pelican Hill. With tax, Inspirato is about $2,500/night and Pelican Hill wants $5,000 BEFORE tax. So that would be over $12k in savings on just a 4 night trip. $25k in 2 trips covering 12 nights.

Here are the screenshots!

My six month Pass experiment is about to close with a return trip to Pelican Hill. By far, our most enjoyable use of the program.

How was the rest of your experience?

hedoman May 30, 2021 1:49 pm

As you know, hotels are not strength of program. The beauty of Pelican Hill is that they lease many units and have capable staff to deliver all that is promised. Also, Pelican Hill staff is in sync with Inspirato.

Not so much for the other three homes, Northstar, Big Sky, and three bedroom residence at RC Northstar. No complaints, but annoyances at Northstar would be lousy bed linens, a clothes dryer that took hours to dry clothes. Add a bunch of minor misses unworthy to list. Units are in Welk Resort which exonerates Inspirato to a minor degree. For Big Sky, we found a map inside the welcome folder after opening the door. Unforced error by local hostess. No GPS or locals could help locate the street house was located.

Pass membership expires end of June. Advance six month payment allows for one bonus stay, which was used for Pelican Hill. If we were based around Colorado, it would be easy to do another six month slot. Southern CA would be doable. People using vrbo for high end bookings, Inspirato might make sense. It's all about logistics. The hours spent trying to get things to fit will be redirected to my favorite charity.

Was this a mistake?

I bought the Pass (two actually) after doing what I thought was quite a bit of research on the program. And I'm already wondering whether it is a mistake. The supposed 5* service feels about like dealing with the cable company. No one there seems to be able answer even basic questions about my membership. The membership "welcome packet" that was supposed to explain things never arrived and when I've called (twice now) to ask about it was first told that they don't send any physical packets and then later was told that they *had* sent one and didn't know why it hadn't arrived. I was under the impression that I had some sort of "care team" to help with trip planning. Is that true? How do I find out who it is? I already have two trips coming up and have not spoken to anyone at Inspirato about them. All they did was connect me to the hotel concierge, who is helpful by phone but difficult to reach and is unresponsive on email. The residences look lovely, but I'm not sure that alone is worth the price. Part of what I thought I was paying for is service, which so far has been pretty nonexistent. Have I just fallen through the cracks or is it always like this?

I’m not sure why, but there appears to have been some —a number of—missteps in the handoff between sales and service. I’m hopeful that once things are up and running service will improve.

Hi FlyProf1, I haven't been on FT much recently, so I'm just seeing this now. I will send you a PM, as I have a direct line some people in management. This definitely isn't the norm, and you shouldn't have fallen through the cracks like that. Hang in there...I'll get you taken care of.

Inspirato Pass Review - Sept 2021

Since I've seen some posts asking for more recent reviews, I thought I'd weigh in. My family and I are on month 4 of a 6 month Pass subscription, and we've had an overall very positive experience. We joined at the end of May and have taken the following trips:

1. Fairmont Kea Lani (Maui) - 3 nights - 2 BR oceanfront villa with a plunge pool
2. Montage Cabo - 4 nights - 3 BR ocean view residence (this one was our favorite - huge residence, fabulous resort, amazing service)
3. Montage Kapalua (Maui) - 4 nights - 3 BR residence (beautiful unit - elevator opens to only your unit)
4. Sonoma 4 BR villa - 3 nights - gorgeous private home with heated pool

Here are my overall thoughts so far:

Pros:
  • We’ve gotten amazing value so far for the not quite $10k that we are currently into our subscription. Rack rates for these four stays (or comp for Sonoma) add up to considerably over $65k, and we're not done; we have a four night trip in a 3BR condo in Deer Valley coming up in two weeks and certainly one or two more trips after that before our subscription is up at the end of November. Frankly, we wouldn't have been able to stay in all of these places had it not been for Pass (happy to share my comp spreadsheet offline with anyone who is curious or wants to comp it out themselves).
  • The units, resorts and service have been outstanding across the board.
  • Most residences include complimentary grocery shopping for only the cost of groceries. Arriving to a fully stocked kitchen after a full day of travel is really awesome. In addition, there's almost always a welcome amenity waiting at arrival (wine, or fruit, or a s'mores kit - you get the idea)
  • There truly are no hidden fees or taxes. Of course, transportation, meals and incidentals aren't included, but every aspect of the lodging is, and I've never run into a surprise in this regard.

Cons:
  • You have to be very flexible to get this sort of value, both in terms of your schedule and in terms of where you want to go. Two of our four trips were things we grabbed less than a week out. If you don't have a flexible schedule or you have your heart set on a particular destination, the value will be significantly less.
  • The best value is definitely in residences (whether private or at resorts). Comparable hotel room deals can be found elsewhere, so if that's your primary intent, Pass may not be worth it for you.
  • As you can see from our trips, trips booked close in are short. If you want to travel for a week, you will likely need to book further out or complement with booking another way (there are sometimes ways to still use Inspirato to do this for an extra fee with Club or with Pass Bonus trips – happy to explain if people are curious). The one exception is that longer trips are often available close in for off season destinations (e.g. Fort Lauderdale in August).
I am very happy to talk or email offline with anyone that's interested in learning more about our experience and getting a member perspective on whether it would be right for you. One important thing to know is that there are often promotions available if you commit for 6 or 12 months. You will not get these if you join through the website, so it's best to connect through member services. I'm also happy to connect you directly with member services so you can learn about current promotions if you're interested.

Fantastic review, thank you for this detail.
So, in 3 months (Jun, July, Aug), you were able to take four trips?
Would you mind dropping in the dates of those trips --- my intention in asking is I am interested in understanding how much time you have to wait between trips.

I have been curious about the practicality of getting MORE trips in.

Sarah_travels Sep 14, 2021 4:18 pm

Sure, here were the dates:
Wailea (Fairmont Kea Lani): 6/29-7/2
Montage Cabo: 7/9-7/13 (we nabbed this one on check out day from Wailea)
Montage Kapalua: 7/31-8/4
Sonoma house: 9/3-9/6

Our next trip is booked for 10/1-10/4 but we could have gotten desirable things sooner. Our schedules just got trickier and that was the first weekend that worked for us.

Do you remember how far out/how soon after the previous trip you booked these?

Sarah_travels Sep 14, 2021 4:37 pm

We joined on May 26, so we waited around a month for the first Maui trip. During that month I saw several other desirable trips pop up for earlier dates (Cabo, Kapalua, Costa Rica) but we had bought airfare and invited others who had also made travel plans, so we stuck out the one month wait.

As you can see from my dates above, the next trip (Cabo) was exactly one week after check out (which is the soonest you’re allowed to check in again). Next was 2 1/2 weeks later (Kapalua). We did have about a month between Kapalua and Sonoma but that was in part because we were traveling with my parents who only wanted to go somewhere within driving distance because of Covid (we’re in the Bay Area). Again, if I’d been as flexible as I was in July, there were opportunities to grab an earlier trip to Cabo or Punta Mira several times during that one month wait.

One other word about this. When I talk about desirable things coming up, it’s important to know that they come and go quickly so you need to really be on top of it if something pops up that you want. The most desirable properties are sometimes only up for 10 minutes (though sometimes they sit for days, you never know). In between those ones popping on there’s a lot of less desirable stuff (at least in my opinion). One good thing is that you can cancel with no penalty up to 72 hours ahead, so I generally grab whatever is most desirable on my checkout day, then keep looking and switch if I see something better come on.

This is such great info - thank you for taking the time to share it.

Have you looked into 14 days or greater opportunities? I assume those have to be booked way in advance?
