Hi,
I have a flight on tuesday from EWR to IST with a layover in FRA for 1 hour 40 mins. I used this forum to get familiar with the airport and plan the fastest way I can take to get through. Great, extensive information by the way. I looked at similar flights etc. and looks like my flight will be arriving in Pier Z international and I will be going to B international. Here, it says the fastest way is to take the Skyline train but according to Frankfurt Airport’s website, the Skyline train won’t be working while I’m there. They have buses in place but none that takes you from int Z to int B, only between terminals. What should I do in this case? Do I have to go through passport control? I’m starting to feel very stressed, thanks for the help!
edit: I contacted the Frankfurt Airport twitter page and they said there’s a bus connecting all of Skyline’s stops. In case anyone else wants to know.

I’m glad you were able to find the answer to your question on Twitter. According to earlier reports in this thread the bus leaves from near gate Z11 and takes you to gate B63. No passport control or security should be necessary. It would be great if you can confirm this after the trip and let us know if it was easy to find your way.
Have a good trip!

C gates transfer to T2
I am arriving on QR67 from Doha which seems to normally come into C14 or thereabouts and I want to connect to T2 for a BA flight to LHR which according to the map is right next door. I read upthread that you can't simply walk directly to T2 because there is no open connection, is this still true? If so and with the Skyline being out of service what is the quickest way to get to T2? I would like to try and catch an earlier flight to LHR than my booked one if the QR flight is early/on time.
Thanks

Now there is an open connection path from high C gates to Terminal 2, however it's not advertised. Simply, after arriving after your flight from Doha, follow the signs for Baggage Claim D instead of Baggage Claim C. When you walk a bit, you would notice that you're already in the departures hall of Terminal 2.

We will be arriving next week on LH 447 (DEN-FRA) with a 1 hour connection from non-S to Schengen flight. So I gather we will have to go thru immigration and security
From this week's data it appear we will arrive at Z20 or B20a (I gather the "a" means arrival level for B20?) but the departure gates are all over the map in the A and B terminals.
Are there any shortcuts if we are arriving and departing in the B terminal such that we can avoid the skyline (or bus)?
Also wondering how the bus works. Is it clearly signed when you arrive (or staff to direct you)? How long does it take from Z->A and where are you when you get off?

Otherwise for Z20-> A or B I gather we should just follow the signs to the terminal train and hope our inbound is not delayed...

If you end up arriving at one of the B gates, if you follow the signposted routes, you would need to clear both security and passport control. ( There is a way to go from Terminal 1B to Terminal 1A without any necessary security control but for a newbie in FRA, that would be hard to explain. )
Just for the info;
Terminal 1A has A and Z gates. A for Schengen flights and Z for Non-Schengen flights so they are in the same building but different floor levels.
Terminal 1B has B gates only. B1-19 for Schengen flights and B20-63 for Non-Schengen flights.
By the way, B20a means the same exact thing as gate B20 which would lead you to Terminal 1B arrivals.

If you arrive at a B gate your best option is to ask a LH employee as soon as you enter the terminal. Since the Skyline shuttle is not running at present there should be a transfer bus to A/Z.
Yes, A in B20A means the arrival gate which is the same gate as B20 but one floor above so arriving passengers are separated from departing passengers.

You can find where your flights are likely to arrive and depart from by checking arrival and departure (or flight status) information on Lufthansa.com.
Since you are likely to arrive at an A gate and depart from a Z gate, this will be one of the more straightforward connections in FRA as Z gates are immediately above A gates. You will need to clear exit passport control but no security though there may be random checks by the gate.
It is a tight connection but as long as your incoming flight is not late you will be fine.

Has anything changed? We are flying into Frankfurt today and my husband’s boarding pass has ssss so he will need to go through extra security. Should we just give up on making the connection?

It looks like LH307 is on time and LH450 leaves from Z69, the furthest gate from passport control. I expect security check will take place by the gate as there is no security to go through between A and Z. Just go to the gate as quickly as possible and since it will be a dedicated checkpoint for passengers on LH450 only let’s hope the flight will not leave until all passengers already waiting are onboard.

Hey all - I'm flying NCE (cote d'azur) --> FRA --> PHL on Lufthansa (LH1059 and LH426) with just a 60 minute window to make the transfer and connection (late-September). Luggage will be checked through. Both flights appear to land and depart at Terminal 1 (I can't see which gate the Nice to FRA leg lands at) but the FRA - PHL flight seems to use a gate in the Z 50's. I'm assuming no security issues due to Schengen and we'll be flying at the front of the plane on the first leg which should save a few more minutes when landing in FRA.
Any thoughts if this is doable? Or should i switch to a dreaded crack of dawn flight? Thanks!

You could either end up with any Z gate or any B gate, maybe a C gate as well (but it has a much less percentage) so it won't be %50 Z20 and %50 B20.
If you end up arriving at one of the Z gates, you would only clear passport control but no security.
If you end up arriving at one of the B gates, if you follow the signposted routes, you would need to clear both security and passport control. ( There is a way to go from Terminal 1B to Terminal 1A without any necessary security control but for a newbie in FRA, that would be hard to explain. )

So what does this mean since Z is above A in the same building? Hopefully no bus ride.

As you will see A22 and Z22, for example, are the same gate position. Depending on whether a flight is Schengen or non-Schengen the airbridge can be connected to the lower floor (A) or the upper flower (Z).
There is actually another floor above Z (for Z50-Z69 only) which is used for arrivals from “unclean” non-Schengen countries so arriving and departing passengers may be separated, but this does not affect arriving passengers from the US.

Great experience today, arriving from ROU & taken from V267 directly to B57 for a 2 minute walk to FCLB, hope this is a permanent enhancement 👍
