I looked at all other possible connections (this was redeeming a unique type of DL award), FRA was the least worst connection, risky as it is, that I could get, except AMS that works better, but that wasn't and generally isn't bookable.

RIX. So I have to fly. Have to get in the morning, not evening, as I have a two hour drive after arrival, and only 3 days there total, so losing a day really is bad.

If your Delta ticket is flexible, I would cancel the DL ticket and modify the LH ticket to USA-FRA-RIX.
I hope that you have travel insurance that would cover any expenses if you miss your flight at FRA.

If I were you, I would have booked all the way ( USA-FRA-RIX ) on LH, or on another airline that operates flights to RIX, in a single ticket, if it was super important that you wouldn't miss a day at your final destination.

If I miss the connection, then I am off to buying the evening BT or night LH FRA-RIX. Though if the incoming flight is late I am hoping I can get changed to AMS, before that flight departure, and then buy last minute BT AMS-RIX.
It's a long two nights, two days of flying here.. if I didn't have this cert to use, I'd have went one of the much more logical usual routes (HNL-NRT/HND/NGO/KIX/FUK/TPE/ICN/PVG/PEK-HEL-RIX), that is shorter, quicker, much more pleasant, and only crossing 1/2 an ocean vs two oceans.

And you are aware of the fare LH will charge you for a same day one way FRA-RIX?

If it's a B gate for my Schengen flight (usually it's A, but sometimes B, I've been following), is it still faster to take the SkyLine to A, dedicated security there (at B I think it may dump me into the general queue?), and then take the tunnel back to B?
I very much know this is a tight connection. It's a calculated risk I am taking. If my US departing flight to FRA is delayed, I'll try to get put on to AMS instead, and then buy a last minute flight out of AMS. That's my back-up plan (if DL will do such a change in case of a delay, as is a big question also). Just a case where flight schedules do not line up well, and I have to buy two separate tix regardless..

When is your trip? Please come back and let us know how you got on.

Only if... I had a special expiring DL award certificate to redeem here from two years ago, so had to book DL or DL JV partners. At least on my return I get to go direct on a single ticket from the return city.

Just bumping this as I think it might have gotten lost with all of this T2-T1 discussion:
What is the latest on B to A transfers (USA to Schengen)? I have 1:25 arriving at B22 and departing from A20. Last time I did this it was a mess, and was wondering if there's any tricks to avoid security and hopefully be able to grab a bite in the lounge. We are flying in J. Thanks!

B22 will deplane into the concourse clean, go thru passport and when you come down the section to B, then the tunnel of horror to A before the B immigration desks. Can be done in 15-20 minutes.

Is it the passport control desk on the departure level? Since I’ve successfully avoided FRA for a long time I didn’t know if they made it two-ways. It used to be for Schengen to non-Schengen passengers only.

So I won't have to go through security at all if I'm arriving clean? That is a pleasant surprise.

The only way to not reclear security would be to use the B to Z intra-terminal ( bus ) shuttle, which does not run all the time, and then clear passport control at Z gates.

I have a 3hour stopover in FRA coming up very soon and flying on a coach ticket. I have priority pass and an AMEX gold that I have been on the fence for a while now about upgrading to platinum. My concerns for my layover is that I have a nice place to relax with a shower. Are there decent enough PP lounges with a shower in FRA or is is worth upgrading my AMEX card to platinum to have access to the Lufthansa business lounge? Thanks in advance for your help! Also as an FYI, I will be in terminal 1.

besides the Luxx Lounge, all PP lounges are in T2. The Luxx Lounge has showers... but you need to pay extra for using the showers and is located land-side, so you need to re-clear security:
https://www.prioritypass.com/en/loun...ra3-luxxlounge
All lounges air-side in T1 are LH lounges (and the AC lounge...)

Thanks for your response! Is it worth it to transfer to T2 air-side with 3 hour stopover and use a different lounge. I have heard the luxx lounge is pretty bad.
