That would be at the discretion of the LO agents in VIE ...

Yes, but it is something that you would need to specifically request when you contact the FFP that issued your award ticket.

It's OS-OS at VIE so technically 25 minutes is ok. I assume OS in BCN would be able to check me in all the way through to JFK. That being said it's OS on my separate ticket that cancelled the flight which could possibly misconnect to my next OS flight (which is part of the award ticket), so the only way my FFP would get involved is if I was going to reroute that unchanged ticket.

In that case, your chances for OS helping you with a re-route at VIE (if it becomes necessary) are quite favourable.

goodo: I would NOT try this.. even if luggage can be checked through, if your incoming flight is a bit late it might be that OS says "too bad, buy a new ticket". And I would say the chance of them saying so isn't too little.

Have you tried to buy a LX (Swiss) ticket BCN-GVA-VIE or BCN-ZRH-VIE? There are a lot of connections from BCN to VIE with LX, certainly some giving you still 2+ hours in VIE.

Indeed, the above reply was meant to apply to baggage.

An experienced agent may be able to issue BPs on separate tickets, however, OLCI would be a better idea.

There's only 1 LX option that gets in to VIE before my connection and that's through ZRH giving me 65 mins to connect in VIE. LX cancelled the morning BCN-GVA flight so thats out of the question too.

The whole reason I went with OS was to give me a decent buffer in VIE.

Just went through the new VIE for the first time. On first impression, I really don't like it. Yes, design and everything is quite neat and nice. Also the leather couches in front of the gates are a plus. But the location of the lounge is a pain for some of the gates, the lounge itself is as small as the old one. I was in transit, but on my way to the lounge, I found security looked like an absolute mess. In general I didn't like the feel of the terminal

I sometimes suspect that the architects responsible for airports have never actually been on a trip.

Judging by the design of VIE I suspect the responsible architects are more used to designing Scandinavian prisons - stark but supposedly humane.

I have always wanted to meet the people who worked on FRA and somehow thought that a couple of flights of stairs disembarking from a 747 with hand luggage are a good idea for 500 people at 6 AM in the morning after a longhaul.

Connection question

Going JFK-(OS)-VIE-(OU)-DBV this week. Looks like the OU flight will leave out of D (non-Schengen). I see there's a non-Schengen lounge too. So technically I'm never entering the Schengen zone...?

Connection almost 2 hours, so no worries (in C both flights too). From the arrivals level to departing from D - is there 1) passport control, and/or 2) a security checkpoint? Tough to tell from the VIE map.

EDIT: looks like it's both passport and security:
http://www.viennaairport.com/jart/pr...ve-mode=active

I guess my only question is if the SEN lounge is before or after those steps...not clear from the airport map.

Thanks.
