I didn't see many Y SPML's from outstations, so I thought I'd share this AVML/HNML from last month (both meals were the same).

HNML/AVML: Chickpea salad, mixed vegetable curry with rice, cucumber raita, pita bread, and fruit salad with chocolate/coconut nuggets
Salad was a bit dry, but the meal overall was not bad.

Can you share what the experience was like? Have flights shortly and considering a vegetarian meal for one of us. I once witnessed a fantastic vegetarian catering in LH F - with a substitute catered for the amuse bouche, the caviar, and the multiple appetizers. Was impressive as far as I could see. Was your experience something similar?

Sitting in the third-to-last row on a 747-8 FRA-ORD next month. No dietary restrictions but I did request a special Gluten Free meal as I'm worried I'll be left with the worst choice. Anyone know what can I expect or if I'll be OK without requesting a special meal?

In economy you can't revert to the normal catering if you ordered a special meal since they load less regular meals accounting for the special meals. You can get an idea what is served in economy by looking at the premium eco meals for your flight here: https://www.lufthansa.com/no/en/menu-card

In my experience the main dish tends to be a “lowest common denominator” meal that covers veggie, vegan, and probably a few other dietary restrictions, but you do get the non-vegan dessert. LHG also seem to have hedged sweet potato prices at the moment, or maybe I just got unlucky recently with sweet potato roulette.
LH LGW-FRA, bizarre and completely tasteless sweet potato salad thing (?):
OS FRA-VIE, completely tasteless sweet potato curry (but at least a hot meal despite the short flight time!)
Also note that LH served margarine, but OS served butter.
LX curiously just completely ignored my special meal order (no mention by the crew) and as it was meat based I happily took it.
