The customer experience/insights team at LH/LX/OS has set up a community to gather insights about what their customers want from the LHG. Registration is now open and everyone is welcome to join. It seems to be in German for the start.

What I find interesting about this is that its clearly looking for very specific feedback on developments already under way. I suspect the IT group have a well defined roadmap of developments and backlog that theyre working through.
What I find curious is that theyre asking for feedback (for example on the UX for food pre-ordering), but I dont understand why they dont just roll the capability out and do A/B testing to find the best experience.
I have noticed some incremental improvements in the app, such as offline booking storage, but its all very much tinkering around the edges, off of the same core platform.
All Lufthansa need to do is take a look at the big US carriers and start to replicate the features from their online offerings. This includes the ability to do online servicing for all use cases through channels like twitter. Even British Airways are ahead on this front. I wouldnt mind using the app, if it were to automatically pass my login details through to chat and bypass all those silly security questions and the online chat was reliable.
None of this is rocket science, UA/AA/DL do all of this today. So its kind of disappointing that theyre tinkering round the edges trying to build a shopping UI to take more money from Swiss business class customers with the ability to pre-order pay for meals in a premium cabin.

They are in the process of moving to a common LH group UI (web & app) already: https://www.flyertalk.com/forum/luft...ne-2018-a.html

I simply don't use the app. I deleted it a long time ago and never felt any incentive to install it again. Needless to say, I fly LH as little as humanly possible

I like to fly LH, especially longhaul they are still better than most (as in "less terrible" than all the others) but I won't touch M&M anymore and I too consider the app entirely non-op and worthless.

I absolutely mean coach - I reckon that F is good but I never ever book it, so all my F experiences were at-the-gate op-ups.
The only other airline with a very decent coach product I know is BA but they suffer from LHR and the insanity of the British authorities.
Sure SQ might be qually good and JL better but in Europe and the Americas, LH coach is still a very decent product. If course, the cripple-7 and the Nighmareliner will change that reasonably soon. So "thanks Boeing" for urinating on yet another decent coach experience!

Really?? I find this very interesting because I thought that LH long haul economy was something to be avoided at all costs, along with that of most European and American airlines. Haven't flown long haul economy with LH for the last 12 years. If I need to go east, I book Asian or Middle Eastern airlines.

My criterion for a "bad airline" is, if they have 3-4-3 Cripple-7s or 3-3-3 787s in its fleet. That makes LX and OS bad and LH still good for a few more minutes.
A lot of otherwise very decent Asian airlines also suffer from the 787 phenomenon.
One reason, why I prefer LH over SQ is that they still have a form of elite segregation in coach. Plus I like LH's food.

Thought they didn't serve any meaningful food to speak of, except some metal traylet of the worst type of airline pasta. I really believe that there is a certain level below which Economy service should not descend, and LH has long sunk below that level.
