Rebooking waiver issued November 5, 2019 for the strike to occur on November 7-8, 2019

LH advises you what do in case of irreg cancellations here: https://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/flight-disruptions

Information on the announced strike of UFO

UFO has called on its cabin crew members for a two-day strike on 7 and 8 November. Lufthansa condemns the UFO's call for a strike in the strongest possible terms and is considering legal steps to prevent the strike. We are currently working at full speed on a special flight plan for Thursday and Friday which will be published on Wednesday. We apologize for any inconvenience that may arise.

Please check this website regularly, leave your mobile number in your Miles & More profile or in your booking and you will automatically be informed about the latest changes.

Your flight has not yet been cancelled, but you still want to change to another day or the train?

In order to give you planning security, we now offer you a free rebooking in the following cases

  • You are booked on a Lufthansa Group flight to and from Frankfurt or Munich with departure on 7 or 8 November.
  • Your ticket was issued on and before 4 November.
You can rebook your flight for the same route to a new date up to and including 15 November. Availability in the same class provided.

If you are booked on a domestic Lufthansa flight, we offer you a free exchange of your flight route for a train ticket on this page.

If and when a particular strike begins and flights are actually beginning to be cancelled/automatically rebooked, you can call or use facebook messenger ( https://www.lufthansa.com/de/en/chatbot ) and ask for a rebooking/rerouting. If your ticket was issued by a travel agent or different airline, you are advised to contact the issuing office.

LH usually rebooks to other LH Group carriers, any star alliance carrier or other IATA airline it has an interline agreement with. The preference to do so is in the same order and done only if the preferred alternative doesn't have any free seats in the class of service (not booking class). Award bookings are treated the same way, although you may be requested to contact the issuing carrier for reissuing the ticket. LH issued tickets are usually reissued using the ATC irreg system. Because of the ATC in place, any travel agent who originally issued the tickets can rebook using the rules and reissue the tickets automatically without any intervention required by Lufthansa.

Details of the LH irreg invol rebooking policy is here: https://aviacenter.ru/en/news/2019/04/29/lufthansa-group-airlines.-flight-irregularities-policy-(in-case-of-schedule-changes)/

Should I get in the queue now? Just need to get LH to confirm my protected segments.

By the way, terrible system that you can’t just send a message on FB or Twitter like with LOT. In my case someone literally presses confirm and it’s done.

To answer my question: NO.

I got through in 2 minutes and staff said there is no internal list (that they have access to) and of course they are as appalled as some of us are here that they haven’t decided what to do yet. They will strand thousands of pax that might be able to be rebooked at this stage.

SAL is Star Alliance Airlines-I normally write *A but our mod wrote SAL so I continued it.

RBD is the booking class, A, P, Y etc.

The question is where is the "special flight plan for Thursday and Friday" that they are working on at full speed since yesterday.

yeah this is ridiculous. Strike seems to have been confirmed. I want to know if it affects me. LH is clearly dragging their feet and are wholly unprepared for this.

Apparently LH goes to the next higher court.. no timeline mentioned. Swissport counter in JNB also unaware and Check-in starts in ~30min.
Also no update on twitter (@lufthansanews) for a good 20h. Ridiculous.

SAL is *A airlines, OAL is other IATA airlines. The RBD comes from the LH irreg manual, it means lowest available booking class in the same compartment.

Alternative 1:
Rebooking to an alternate LH flight/LH flight connection (LH flight number and LH operated)
· Re-book in the originally ticketed booking class within ticket validity
· If the original booking class is not available, any available booking class (RBD) within
the same compartment may be used only if the new flight departure date is within 3-
days before or after the original flight date.
· Please note: Lufthansa booking classes G/E/N must not be used for rebooking of
Economy Class passengers since G/E/N are used for Lufthansa Premium Economy
and consequently considered a different compartment
Alternative 2:
If no alternate LH operating flight is available:
· Rebooking to an alternate LH marketing flight number (non-LH operated):
· Re-book in the originally ticketed booking class within ticket validity – rebooking to
other booking classes will result in ADMs
Alternative 3:
If no alternate LH flight (marketing + operating) is available:
· Rebooking to an alternate flight/flight connection on LH group:
LH/LX/OS/SN/4U/EW flight number and operated by LH/LX/OS/SN, 4U/EW and new:
Air Canada (AC) or United Airlines (UA).
· Re-book in the originally ticketed booking class within ticket validity.
· If the original booking class is not available, lowest available booking class (RBD)
within the same compartment may be used only if the new flight departure date
is within 3-days before or after the original flight date and rebooking is on
alternate flight/flight connection LH, LX, OS, SN, 4U/EW, AC or UA. (Please note:
Premium Economy compartment is a separate compartment and must not be used for
rebooking of Economy Class passengers)
In case of rebooking to an alternate 4U/EW flight, please note that 4U/EW booking classes
are not harmonized with LH Group (LH/OS/LX/SN) and AC/UA booking classes
3
(RBD).
Rebookings to 4U/EW flights are only allowed in a comparable booking class: Compare
the fare value of the respective fare component and book in a booking class with same
or less fare value. Please contact Lufthansa in case of questions or doubts.
Please note: INVOL rebooking to 4U/EW Best booking classes (J,D,P) is only permitted
for customers holding Lufthansa Business Class fares.
If none of the alternatives 1, 2 or 3 is available or accepted by the passenger, please contact
Lufthansa. There might be other alternatives e.g. on Star Alliance partner airlines, however
these are only to be handled by LH. In case none of the possible alternatives is accepted by
the passenger, the ticket needs to be refunded.

Think all long haul is cancelled?

Perhaps doesn't mean SH won't be...but just cancelling in stages.
