Yes, indeed. I am convinced that many CEOs in airline business are just overwhelmed by the chances of cost reductions by a capacity increase.

In their eyes the economies of scale just suggest the largest bird available - and that is the A380-800.

On the other hand the A380-800 doesn't have this upper deck feeling of a comparatively tiny small body plane mounted on the widebody.

That said as an airline CEO I would choose the B747-800 and allocate First and parts of the Business Class upstairs....

Some images from the TAP hangar when the LHT guys stuck the siegerflieger decals on the livery:

It seems it was good fortune that the 6 LHT technicians from FRA were on board on the flight back when the luggage cart bumped into the side at the gate, without them the aircraft wouldn't have been cleared for departure that night.

The LAC seems to have a humongous Siegerflieger on display now:

YI lost her 'siegerflieger' stickers last month and is just a regular LH B748 now: Lufthansa entfernt "Siegerflieger"-Beklebung - airliners.de

Glad it was still the Siegerflieger when I took it in April
