I was curious too. Found this from Deutsche Welle:
An Bord des "Siegerfliegers"
"Unser Weg in die Economyclass führt durch die First Class, wo bereits die DFB-Delegation um Präsident Wolfgang Niersbach Platz genommen hat, und geht dann weiter durch die Businessclass, in der die Spieler sitzen."
Die Bonzen fly First, the champions fly Business. :-(
So you say there are 8 First seats. I think I'd have given them to the players and let them decide who gets to sit there. The fat cats could have planted their fat asses elsewhere on *THIS* flight!
I was wondering whether this plane was special in any way other than the decoration - more (all?) business seats etc. - but that doesn't seem to be the case. How many business seats does this plane have? Since many players were traveling with family, could they sit together with their wives and kids, or did the partners have to rub shoulders in economy?

The standard 748 has 8F/96C which should be enough to cover the team of 23 and trainers. On the way out they had a A346 with new C from MUC, that was 8F and 58C. Unless the players picked up additional girlfriends... that said I think the majority of the families and +1 of the players didn't fly to Berlin.

Well, Endsiegerflieger would have conveyed of more gravity and heroism but the enviers and politically correct folks out there would certainly have found something objectionable about it ....

That's a different plane. The "Siegerflieger" has a longer upper deck. Compare number of windows behind the upper door:
from http://www.tagesschau.de/multimedia/...sball-494.html
It also says/said "Siegerflieger", although they may have removed that by now

Now that the Worldcup is over, we obviously won't be seeing this livery anymore. I thought it was a great idea of LH and I know of no other airline that did something similar.
That, combined with the special football-themed amenity kits, the Caipirinhas served on board, the Brazilian soup in the lounges ex-Germany etc., is all part of an initiative by LH I really enjoyed over the last few months.

Oh, they had caipirinhas?? Too bad, I didn't fly anywhere in the last few weeks! I agree, very nice touch!
I just found they have a whole minisite dedicated for this:

On the day of the final, the LH check-in area at LAX was also quite fun:
I boarded LH457 just minutes after Germany had won, and the German flag was hanging outside the cockpit door.
