Lufthansa New/Cancelled Routes and Changes

Thanks, indeed DXB-FRA now 3x day daily. The third flight wasn't daily in the past, now it is. So even more choice for passengers going only between DXB and FRA (including a ghastly departure at 4AM from DXB on EK - I suppose that is mostly for people connecting in DXB).

The PR for the new A330 service to ACC, ironically issued by the TLV office

Lufthansa upgrades Accra service to Airbus A330-300

Since this weekend, Lufthansa German Airlines improves its services between Accra and Frankfurt with an Airbus A330-300 aircraft. The new wide body aircraft increases capacity by 100%, offering a three-class configuration and bringing the renowned 5 Star First Class to Ghana. The A330-300 replaces the two-class Boeing Business Jet.

“Lufthansa has been working hard to re-introduce the large Airbus to its Ghana route. We can now offer our passengers the full range of an exceptional Lufthansa experience right from Accra and back”, said Carsten Schaeffer, Lufthansa Vice President Sales and Services Southeast Europe, Middle East and Africa after a ribbon cutting ceremony at the Kotoka International Airport.

In honor of upgraded service, 25 journalists attended a special press conference at the airport with Mr. Schaeffer as well as Kevin Markette, Lufthansa’s General Manager Ghana and Claus Becker, Lufthansa’s Regional Director Western Africa.

Lufthansa commenced flight operations to Accra on August 24, 1967, with two flights a week, using Boeing 707 aircraft. Since then the service expanded and is now daily.

I hope that 'goud erkraft Popova' was among the 25 journalists being invited.

On a related note, is DE still flying the route with the stretched 757?

According to airlineroute LAD to increase to 3 weekly.
Only surprise to me is 2 class only for the new flight.
The First class competition is EK with 7 weekly, AF 2 weekly (varies), BA 2 weekly.

Subject to Government Approval, Lufthansa from 08JUL14 is adding 3rd weekly service on Frankfurt – Luanda route. The new flight to the Angolan capital operates on Tuesdays from Frankfurt, Wednesdays from Luanda. The new flight operates with 2-class A340-300, while the remaining 2 weekly operates with 3-class aircraft.

LH560 FRA2205 – 0530+1LAD 343 247
LH561 LAD2200 – 0730+1FRA 343 135

This has now been dropped according to http://airlineroute.net/2014/05/06/lh-lad-jul14update2/

Lufthansa has removed planned service increase on Frankfurt – Luanda route, where it previously planned to introduce 3rd weekly service from 08JUL14. Reservation for the 3rd weekly service is closed and removed from the system.

Schedule on/after July 2014 as follow.

LH560 FRA2205 – 0530+1LAD 343 47
LH561 LAD2200 – 0730+1FRA 343 15

May I ask for the forum's help on the changes to the FRA - KIX (Osaka) route?

I was trying to book F tickets to go to Kyoto, as I have done before. My flight is for late September. I saw that F is no longer available from July 20. The flight seems to remain on 744 and the seatmap shows upper deck with 8 seats sold as business class (blocked).

From October 26, the flight seems to go back to having F availability. Something seems wrong here, why would Lufthansa stop selling F for about 3 months when the equipment never changes from a 744 with F seats on the upper deck and old C seats on the main deck?

Any advice? My main goal is to avoid old C for this overnight flight.

It does sound strange- however is possible. YVR flights used to run for many parts of the year with the F cabin sold as C and then other parts of the year wit the F cabin sold as F. The only annoying part would be that if you switched your flight or booked close in the "F" seats would already be taken as this was quite well known among frequent flyers.

If you get your travel agent to send a message through the queue to Lufthansa they generally respond quite quickly and advise him/her on why exactly F is showing that way and what the alternatives are to ensure you fly F.

Thank you TRAVELSIG for the detailed info. I will keep this in mind when we finalize our plans. In the meantime I was able to secure award seats in F to and from Tokyo.

According to http://airlineroute.net/ FRA-KIX and FRA-NRT will be served by the 744 until the end of S14 season when they are both replaced by two-class A343. In the S15 season two-class 744 will return to these routes.

MUC-LPA

LH announces MUC-LPA for the winter season

Lufthansa customers looking to escape the cold season will in future have another destination to choose from. The new route between Munich and the Canary Island of Gran Canaria is set to start on 26 October, just in time for the autumn holidays in Bavaria. An Airbus A321 with 200 seats and two classes will fly to the airport of Las Palmas, the largest city in the Canary Islands. Lufthansa customers travelling to Gran Canaria will also be able to book a seat in Business Class.

Lufthansa will fly from Munich to the popular holiday destination between 26 October 2014 and 12 April 2015 on Sundays at 9.00 a.m. Lufthansa’s southern hub has good flight connections with German cities. On certain dates, in particular during holiday periods, a Saturday departure will also operate. Return fares start at €280, including all taxes, fees and charges.
