Some very interesting destinations in Europe for 10,000 miles with Germanwings, among them Cardiff, Newquay, Montpellier, Catania, Poznan and Zadar. Also available are Palma da Mallorca and Prague. However, Berlin is completely absent these days.
The Dusseldorf - Geneva route is also available, which is great for me, because paid ticket prices on that route seem to be even higher than they were when Lufthansa was in charge of the route. I suppose it's the same Eurowings planes, but with Germanwings service and rules (paid baggage, paid catering).
One excellent point, however: the taxes are a third of what they used to be, so GVA-DUS is offered as a RT with only CHF55 taxes attached. This is presumably because Germanwings have no fuel surcharges..as yet. Wonder how long it will be before they start grabbing for money in this way too.
I think all Germanwings destinations have very low taxes, which makes them potentially an excellent deal and good value for miles ! Lastly, I believe if you take an award ticket with Germanwings, you can check a bag for free but you have to pay for the rest (catering, seat selection). At least, it was the last time I did it a couple of years back on CGN-ZRH.

I'd like to book for 2 people in C, 55k miles per person. I have almost 200k in my account.
I am looking at booking BRU-ORD / YUL- BRU. Both Chicago and Montreal are mileage bargains for August.
I checked BRU-ORD-BRU for August 5th and August 19th, and found a mileage bargain flight BRU-ORD LH1011/LH432 (through FRA on a 747).
I checked BRU-YUL-BRU for the same dates, and found a mileage bargain flight YUL-BRU LH475/LH2286 (through MUC on a A343).
But when I try to combine the two with the same flight numbers and on the same dates, I am told that I don't have enough miles (which is of course correct for a full price award, which is 110k per person).
Should I just wait a couple of days, or is there anyone I can ask?
Or maybe the open jaw thing does not actually work (anymore)?
Thank you all!
