Lufthansa Lounges at JFK

From Lufhtansa's website........
"Exclusive Lufthansa lounge over three levels in New YorkEnlargement and modernization of the Lufthansa Senator lounges with integrated First Class Area and Business Lounge.

From end of January, both the Senator and Business lounges at New York's John F. Kennedy Airport will be completely renovated and enlarged by more than 600 square meters.

First of all, the lounge will be extended upwards by two floors. A completely new Senator Lounge will come into being at Levels Two and Three in the modern Lufthansa design and featuring an exclusive First Class Area with integrated pre-flight dinner section.

Subsequently, the present Business Lounge at the lower level will be extended by incorporating the old Senator Lounge area, completely modernized and equipped in the new Business Lounge design. This means that the Business Lounge will also in future provide its guests with more room in which to relax.

Also, due to the relocation of the lounge entrance to behind the security checkpoint, our guests will in future be able to enjoy their stay in the lounge until shortly before their aircraft departs.

During the building work, inconveniences can occur when using the lounge.
Completion of the lounge is scheduled for the end of 2008."

am looking forward to this...

I bet that's the news that LHrelate originally wanted to share with us.

Sounds good to me... ^

Very much looking forward to this. The new lounge should bring LH to the standard of such an important airport for them. Great news! ^

I am still somehow surprised by the decision at this point within in the daily merger rumors, especially due to the stuff going on on the other side of the pond.

Nobody knows who is going to end up where. Assuming that DL/UA would hook up, JFK is great, assume that CO/UA end up, EWR might be better to extend.

Don't forget the LH stake in JetBlue. LH has made clear that they want to develop JFK further independent of possible mergers of some of the larger network carriers in the US.

NYC and ORD are the most profitable TATL routes LH has. Its a shame they don't even invest into a small lounge in ORD near the B gates they always use.

I couldn't agree more! Only having the option to use the RCC in ORD is very dreadful. A Senator lounge would be more than appreciated!!

Maybe Michelle has more info (or rumors) about positive improvements at ORD

Thats great news ^ I am really looking forward to this as the current lounge is nothing to write home about. And. It makes sense to start renewing the lounge now and don't wait for possible mergers and changes at JFK. Nobody knows when consolidation will really begin if it ever happens.

Closure of the Lufthansa Lounges in New York on 16. August

Renovation works at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport: we will be extending and modernising the Lufthansa Senator Lounge, with its integrated First Class Area and Business Lounge, until early 2009. This extensive building work has been under way since the beginning of the year.

To make sure the lounges will open on time and to offer you the greatest possible level of comfort as promptly as possible, the lounges will be closed from 16 August until the end of the year. In the meantime, you can use alternative lounges in Terminal 1. These lounges are located behind the security checkpoint and offer a place to relax before your flight. Vouchers for the lounges will be handed out at the Lufthansa check-in counters.

From January 2009, you can expect a generous choice of lounges on three different levels: there will be a completely new Senator Lounge, as well as an exclusive First Class Area with an integrated Pre-Flight Dinner area, spanning more than 700 square metres on the second and third levels. On the first level, you’ll be invited to relax in a comfortable Business Lounge in the new Lufthansa design, also spanning more than 700 square metres.

Does anyone know whose lounge they are using while the regular lounge is closed?
