Oh come on! You expect a self-respecting LH A-340 to stand around on the tarmac waiting for the HON pick-up? And what about its A-340 spouse?

And... are you trying to tell me that a LH A-340 flies at least 600,000 miles in two years???

It's a little hard to tell from the picture, but I think the nosewheel bay doors say "HY" - so it would be D-AIHY, an A340-600.

I saw HY in Frankfurt on January 14th, so it does seem to be based there rather than in MUC at the moment.

Though it doesn't prove anything conclusively...

It would prove that if it was indeed HY, the damage can't have been very substantial.

What is across the road in the photo? Maybe it was trying to get to whatever that is...?

If it is where I think it is (at the cargo apron to the north of RWY18), then across the road there is a small strip of forest, then the A3 highway and then the construction site for the new runway at FRA - perhaps it was trying to be the first to use it?

Trying to be the very first "Runway Lice" to sit there and wait until the runway opens?
