LAX has good ground options via public transportation to Downtown and Westside, and decent option for the Valley, South Bay and Mid City. But not to Orange County. It's much easier to do LAX-BUR by transit if anyone wants to do mileage runs that way.
Orange County is as anti-public transportation as you can get in the US. SNA has minimal bus service that offer very poorly timed (and infrequent) connection to the regional commuter rail system (Metrolink).

One-way car rental LAX-SNA
I know the airlines considers the airports in the LA area to be co-terminus. But, I guess I was foolish to think the same of the car rental agencies.
Does anyone know if any of the car rental agencies allow a one-way rental from LAX to Santa Ana/Orange County with the drop fee? Or, if not, which agency has the lowest drop fee?

One-way car rental LAX-SNA
Usually Fox has the lowest drop fee
Be forewarned. Fox at SNA is a "ghetto" like atmosphere. Lax is fine

I need a rental car to visit several locations in LA during the day. I fly into LAX in the morning; dinner in Orange County that evening.
It's a personal trip, not a business trip.
EDITED to add: Wow ... Fox has a $50 drop fee. Enterprise only has a $25 drop fee, but the rental price goes up by $25, too, so that equals $50!

I rent one-way between LAX and SNA a few times a month. I found that with both Avis and National I haven't had a premium or drop charge for one-day (same-day or next-day return) rentals starting on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday. I looked at my records for the last three months and all had base rates of $22-$27 before taxes/fees for a mid-size. With rentals originating from LAX, there is a $10 facilities charge in addition to the other taxes/fees. If you use an Avis AWD# that offers a Pay Now rate (such as A108326 - Costco), the weekend rate is routinely around $18 before taxes/fees for LAX-LAX and LAX-SNA. I just did a quick check on Avis for pickup at LAX on 6/1/12 at 6PM with return to SNA on 6/2/12 at 6PM and get a Pay Now rate of $15.17. With taxes and fees, the total estimate is $28.92.

Would be interesting to hear back fro OP as to what happened.
Considering how expensive public transportation lines are to construct, and how many other areas, with more potential riders, exist, I doubt there'd be serious discussion of anything beyond a bus between the two airports.

Not much of an improvement, particularly considering how few trips per day it makes, but the Irvine/LAX Flyaway is an option for some people, depending on arrival/departure times.

Given checkpoint delays at SNA, I wouldn't even risk Super Shuttle. This is a cab / car service run for sure.

Driving Times - Beverly Hills/Downtown/LAX
Hi guys,
In town next week for Cup finals.
Staying at Beverly Willshire. How much time do I need to budget (I'm driving) to get to the Staples Center by call it 4.45pm (enough time to park/get in)? Not too conservative, but realistic, please. Any suggested routes also appreciated!
Second question, is at around 8-9pm, how long should I expect from the Staples Center to LAX? Again, suggested routes are very much appreciated.
*Also, if from a driving time perspective, I'm much better off staying at the London, I can do that, so feel free to opine on that topic, too!
Thanks!
~Steven

Rush hour driving times are very hard to predict; Thursday afternoon/evening traffic tends to be the worst.
Here is a traffic prediction site.

Not so much looking for an accurate prediction, more like a 90th percentile recommendation.

Monday 4 pm from Beverly Wilshire to Staples Center will be about 1 hour via Olympic Blvd. You can try I-10 but it will take about 25 minutes just to get to I-10 from Beverly Wilshire. Not worth the trouble in my opinion. Take the local road (Olympic is the best).
Staples to LAX at 9 pm mid week should be about 35 minutes via I-110 and I-105. That's your best route.

You can still do that sort of using the DL Resort Express that runs between LAX and DL and DL and SNA, but it isn't what you'd use for a quick connection.
