I drive a rental car from SNA to LAX often. At least your future is in your control.
Refueling at LAX area is easy. Try National and Budget for prices.

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and suggestions.

There is now no question in mind: Public transportation is NOT practical.

Yep. Rent a car. It's a straight line up 405 - hard to get lost (think getting from SJC to SFO given that you are from bay area) and there are gas stations on century on the way to rental return. Plus you can stop on the way to have a snack or to do sightseeing/shopping if you have time.

What about Shuttle2LAX?

What about that new LAX shuttle service, Shuttle2LAX.com. My understanding is that they will take you to or from LAX for a flat fare of $20 first passenger, $11 each additional passenger.

With the sale, seems to be $3-5 less than what I was quoted for Supershuttle and Prime Time for 2 people to go from LAX to an Anaheim hotel. I'd tend to go with a service I'm familiar with, but this may be a good one.

Reliable Limo service at SNA?

Without going into all the whys, we are flying into SNA but are staying in Culver City. Looked for a rate for limo service between the two and got a whole bunch of quotes, some of which we find acceptable. However, we have no experience with any of the companies, so I am looking for any recommendations.

Thanks.

I would look into Prime Time Shuttle, their definitely cheaper than Super Shuttle. I've used them several times they have good service.

It's possible to do this by public transportation but it will take a while. SNA is the least transit accessible airport in LA area.

Do you really want to attempt this? http://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=sn...h&z=11&start=0

I take Metro in LA all the time and even I wouldn't try this. Public transportation option in Orange County blows.

One-way rental car is the way to go if Irvine Fly Away schedule doesn't work for you.
LAX often has $100+ dropoff fees and is often an exception to general "no drop" locations.

Will be driving from the Palm Springs area to the Disneyland area on a Tuesday evening. I assume that this drive will be far longer if I leave earlier (like 4 p.m.) than if I leave later (like 7 p.m.). I would prefer to leave earlier than 7, however. Is there a time after which I will generally do better?

Are you driving solo or together with someone else (carpool)?

However, with respect to carpool lanes on the 91, I believe in the "91 Express Lanes" tollway section, you can't access them unless you are a FastTrak member. It's 3 people or more in this section to qualify as a carpool (and then it's free) or you can pay the toll. However, I think you can't access it at all without the transponder.

91 Express Lanes is transponder only, even for carpool access. No transponder, no access - you will get a ticket in the mail with your mug shot

Are there any improvements for the ground transportation between SNA and LAX lately?
