Transfer at MIA: Checking In?
Hi Guys,
Have a situation that maybe someone here knows the answer too.
I am flying in from ATL (most likely on Delta). I will be connecting to LAN to SCL and onward to IPC.
Will I have to go outside the secure area or will I be able to check in at a transfer desk?
From what I understand Delta and LAN have interline baggage agreement so I can check my bags thru at ATL.
Any experience in this?
Thanks!

Hi foofiter
I think I read your plans somewhere else on the board. You are booking an AA reward with LAN and paying your connection yourself right?
So your ride from MIA to SCL and your ride from ATL to MIA are not on the same tickets right?
I think this is not technically an interline, and although DL might offer to check your bags through to SCL with LAN, I personally wouldn't trust LAN to receive your bags in MIA and make sure they get on the right flight.
LAN loses your bags and not only do you get sold down the river but you have the added possibility of LAN blaming Delta for your loss. For the sake of 20 minutes I would be inclined to claim your bags in MIA and check them back in with LAN

Yeah I posted that to the AA forum but since this was a purely LAN question I posted here.
Good point on the lost baggage part. I will build in plenty of time to check in again in MIA both ways.
Yes they are separate tickets due to me using BA miles for the flights to and from Easter Island.
It would also make sense to check in the "normal" way so they can give lounge passes to us.
Thanks!
