To close the loop from my earlier post about a gift: My host was more than happy - and apparently quite surprised! - to accept the gift I presented (with collegues nearby, no less). So, I don't think there's any issue with gifts.

Hosts can accept cash. I've given some cash directly in the host offices. Although some people give them cash inside thank-you-cards (which don't have to be opened on property).

I'm going to be staying in vegas 2 nights upcoming at the end of this month at ceasar's palace. current holding a reservation based on their website special.

Should i try calling a host ahead of time to establish a line and set the stage for comps, or should i want until i get there? And if i should call ahead, who do you recommend i ask to speak to? I mostly play craps and blackjack.

Caesars = Harrah's = not really great for table players, unless you provide significant action.

If you are a fairly new player, and have not obtained any [previous] status level @ Caesars (i.e. Total Rewards Platinum, Diamond); there is little a host will be able to do for you upfront.

Since you mention opening a line for markers, I guess if you get a line above $10K, and play a solid $150-$300/average wager 4+ hours a day, you'll probably be able to get you room taken care of (if booked directly with Caesars) and some amount of comp above the Total Rewards RCs (Reward Credits) earned, of course YMMV.

Otherwise, you'll just have to live with the paltry RCs earned from table play. The silver lining is that Harrah's marketing offers are pretty aggressive, and even marginal play will earn you 'future' free room marketing offers.

sorry to reopen an old thread...would like some advice or recommendations.
I am heading to vegas in Feb for 2nights from Australia and want to stay in either Wynn/Encore or Venetian/Palazzo. Having no relationship with either place I had quite a lukewarm response when I rang casino marketing/host desk enquiring about how to wire some money for stay, booking rooms (and rates). [Basically here is the contact for the cage and book a room on the net]

Typically when we visit for a short stay at Crown in Melbourne and would like to do likewise in Vegas
* Want to send a small amount in advance (10-15k). Average play around 200+ BJ or 400 craps
* we get a reservation over the phone, casino rate for the rooms and offer to pickup from the airport upfront.
* depending on play/turnover working off room charge and food/bev.
* host has very little interaction - maybe book last minute dinner reservations.

Can someone recommend hosts at either property that I might contact to get a better response?

UPDATE - we had a great stay at the Wynn...even though Mr Wynn is richer for our stay :-) We did not end up having time to send front money or organise much before we left (the rooms were so cheap anyways). Thanks for the host recommendation from QL. Tracking of play seemed pretty accurate and hosts were great giving summary and comps at the end of stay despite our limited time at the tables.

Is it worth getting a casino host if I play blackjack in the $50 hand range? I already get some pretty aggressive offers from Casino Marketing at the Venetian/Palazzo for free rooms and small dining credit. What else could a casino host do for me? I'm guessing I'm way below the play for an RFB comp?

At $50/hand there isn't much a host can do for you at V/P or any of the other higher end properties. The marketing offers they send out are your best bet.

I've been moderately comped by WynnEncore for a trip at the end of June, couple of nights, LaReve tix, dining credit. How much should I wire to them in advance that may open up some more comps while we're there? I'm thinking somewhere between 2-5k. Or is that laughable?

I would not call it laughable, but wiring $2-5K really won't get you noticed at the Wynn. Not even sure why you'd go through the trouble of sending such a small amount in advance. The TSA won't hassle you unless you have above $10K .

If you're uncomfortable carrying larger amounts of cash, either establish a line of credit with the casino (pretty easy), or ask your bank/CU to raise your daily ATM limit to $1000.

If you're looking to get comped, use your Red card religiously, stick to the Wynn for all gambling (hopping dilutes your play) and follow Johnlathropa's excellent advice above.

The Wynn is at the top of the food chain. If you drop down to one of the more, ahem, "Chevy" casinos (like Bally's, Monte Carlo, or Flamingo), your comp dollars will go a lot further, and your $2-5K will get you noticed.

About Wynn/Encore, each time I have been since they opened I have stayed elsewhere but have always been comped meals from slot play (I just asked at the Red desk). I haven't been able to get back for what will eventually be 2 years. I used to get free night emails when Encore first opened, $99 upto a few months ago but recently nothing.

Having not been for a while, is my record effectively wiped clean and I no longer have a good history? I was hoping to stay at Encore for a decent rate early Dec.
