My wife and I saw "O" a couple nights later, and it didn't live up to our expectations, though we thought it was great. In stark contrast, we sat through Celine the night after that. Good but not great. (And after all that, I now feel financially poor.) |

Beatles "Love" CDS
Thought I would get this thread warmed up again.
Anybody gone lately ? Reviews please. Coming into town in a couple weeks for 3 days. Love and La Reve are the only 2 CDS shows we have not seen. Had a couple customers tell me La Reve was not that hot. So leaning towards the Mop Heads CDS show. |

I'll probably get flamed for this, I did not enjoy LOVE. I've seen all the CDS shows except for Zumanity. LOVE is my least favorite. Music was good but the performances were hum drum. Don't know, just didn't appeal to me. I don't think I was drunk either ;)

LOVE was dreck, brought to you by the oversaturating company called Cirque... What is this, their 90th show on the strip? *yawn*
The music in the show (and the technology to showcase the music) was incredible. If you love Beatles music in a sonic-sense, then this show is ear-candy all the way. The CD is a must purchase. Ungodly good. As for the show iteself: It's a mostly foreign cast doing their level best, French-Canadian impression of how The Beatles evolved into what they eventually became... Bigger than Jesus. It's sappy, overwrought and in typical Cirque-style, incredibly busy without actually accomplishing anything. It takes most of what we've seen before in other of their strip shows and simply adds louder, albeit awesome, music. In trying to top themselves on a technological level, Cirque forgets that sometimes 'more isn't always better.' IMO, some of their best shows are the ones currently touring Europe, Japan and the Americas in the blue & white tents: They are much lighter on sparkle and put more emphasis on their company talent. Cirque's evolving motto is fast becoming 'form over function.' I hope they introduce something truly innovative with their coming show at Luxor (an illusion-based show featuring Chriss Angel). BN |
I saw LOVE during the preview month in June. I saw it two more times this month - once in the front row. I love LOVE. I saw Ka the night after seeing LOVE for the third time and LOVE blows Ka away. Some day after another three watchings I'll write a detailed review of each act.
Disclaimer: I'm a huge Beatles fan. |
Cirque du Soleil tickets discounted!
If you are visiting LV soon, and want to see one of the Cirque du Soleil productions, you can get very cheap tickets through a limited time promotion offered by Ticketmaster.
Seats are $50 per ticket, plus the usual $7.50 handling fee, for shows between today and end of September. Currently, the shows with $50 seats include KA, Mystere, Zumanity, and LOVE, but excludes "O" Significant savings, but you won't get the center section, lower level, for any of the shows, but still decent seats. :) The link is: www.ticketmaster.com/summerofcirque |
thanks for the info. I got a pair of tickets to Love that were $125/each for the $50/each...so a pretty good deal! ^

Thank you! I just picked up some really good seats for KA on the inside aisle.^ $50 for a $165 seat. A little surprise for my girlfriend while we are there.

Thanks from me as well. My parents decided to join us when we go the week after next and they wanted tickets to Love. Saved me a good bit. I only wish I would have known sooner so I could have gotten them for myself. 4 of us paid the full price, but we're 4th row and sitting on the outside of the aisle, so that's ok.
