I assume you have seen this thread...

(Thanks to danmb280)

Let us know if the code works, and if it is a good deal.

Now I want to see Mystere! I'm thinking of going in November to see the Sands implosion. I usually stay at the MGM, but the TI could offer a view of the implosion.

I've always wanted to see one of those implosions!! But didn't they already impoded the Sands a while ago? I would definitely consider going to LV for an implosion. When in November is it?

As for that code, I went to "suite reservations" and could not find a place to enter a code other than for travel agencies.

You are correct that Priceline does not identify the hotel prior to purchase. However, the Venetian is the only 5* hotel in the strip area that is ever won on Priceline (see biddingfortravel.com for details).

Good Luck,

Neal You are correct about the Sands. My Bad. It's the Desert Inn that will be Imploded, on Nov. 17 at 1 am. It's to make more room for the new Wynn Resort. Here's a link.

Well, I'll vote for "O". I haven't seen Mystere yet, but I was blown away by "O". Mystere may very well be a slightly better entertainment value, but if you want a jaw dropping show, "O" would be tough to beat. It's simply AMAZING. The water. The changing stage. Everything. Over the top in every way. The tickets I had were $125, and I *seriously* believe they were worht every single penny.

New Cirque show

I've seen all of the Vegas resident Cirque shows, as well as a number of touring productions, and I think that O is worth the money for the "wow" factor alone. It is an incredible show and definitely fits the Vegas definition of over the top entertainment. Having said that, Mystere is probably more entertaining in terms of balancing humor and performances. If money is a determinng factor, you will not be disappointed with Mystere. A new show was just announced and will be opening at the MGM at the end of November. No name yet, but details are on the website (cirquedusoleil.com). Note that you can buy tickets before they go on sale to the public 9/14, by joining their free club. I bought tickets in the 5th row (center) for a New Year's week show for $150 each. That may be another option for you, especially if your staying at the MGM.

If you get the MGM email, you can go ahead and get tickets to the new show, which goes on sale to the public sometime this week. Tickets range from $99 to $150.

The new show is called "KA". Click here for more info.

I decided we will most likely see Mystere. For one thing, "O" is dark for the entire time we'll be in Vegas. I saw Mystere years ago and know my mother will enjoy it. Thanks so much to everyone for all the suggestions!

I would stay away from the Canyon Ranch Spa. I had a really horrible experience there. The place was *very* packed (and I went during summer weekdays which everything else was pretty slow). The service was not personal, and very noisy. The whirlpool was too small, and half the people don't get a seat at the waiting room. I got a massage and was scrubbed with this broom-type material, so my body was all scratched up and bleeding afterwards. (You can still see some of my scar after 2 years). The worst is that the price already had the tips included, so there was nothing I could do at that time. I ended up writing to the Spa manager and the owner. Eventually got a call and a refund.

For something classy, I'd suggest the Spa at Mandalay Bay or Four Seasons.

Cheap tickets for Cirque du Soleil

Does anyone know if it's possible to get cheap tickets for Cirque du Soleil? Or are they only available at full price? I'm going at the end of July.
Thanks

There are several Cirque du Soleil shows including "Mystere", "Ka," etc. etc. at different casinos.

The painfully obvious answer as to how to get the best ticket value is to ask your casino host.

Obviously, if you are a high roller, you will get them comped (or call VIP Services, charge the tickets to your room account, and ask to have them comped at the end of your trip if your play warrants it). If the show is playing in your own hotel, it will be easier to get your seats comped (since the hotel does not have to lay out real money for them).

A less obvious method: You are not a high roller. But you do give them some play. Go up to a pit boss and say, "I know I don't play enough to get comp tickets to [name of show]. But my wife and I heard the show is fantastic, and I was wondering if you could help me out in getting some good seats. I'm willing to pay for them." The pit boss likely as not will help you out, since you are not asking them for anything of value. They have a "casino block" of tickets and they would probably be happy to sell you a couple of them. You could wind up in the front rows for the same price as you would have paid to sit in the nosebleed seats (or whatever you would have got through the box office).

There is also Tix4Tonight, the Vegas equivalent of the Times Square tkts booth -- they sell surplus tickets for same-day performances at half-price. You have to go to one of their locations (e.g. in the Fashion Show Mall) in person after 2 PM, visit their website for more details. Good luck!

StSebastian Jun 12, 2005 11:47 pm

Tix4Tonight is just like TKTS in NYC -- they have discount tickets, but not to the most popular and hot shows that are out there. When I was in there last Dec, I don't remember seeing any Cirque shows up on their board, but their availability changes daily.
