Restaurants

I am going to Vegas on Jan 16 and was looking to find some new places to eat. I've been to most of the expernsive places on the strip and am looking to branch out.

So far, I've made reservations at Steakhouse in the Circus place and Rosemary's (not the one in the Rio). Has anyone been to these recently and have any comments? (I see some old posts about Rosemary's but am looking for more current comments)

Also, I have one more night with which to eat dinner and am looking for suggestions.

Thanks!

I had an outstanding meal at Mon Ami Gabi, the bistro in Paris. It has a nice view of the Bellagio Fountains. Depending on weather, you may sit indoor/outdoor. The only drawback is the wait. I made reservations, but there was still a complication in getting seated in a timely manner. Outstanding wine list and food though.

PS: I'll be there at the same time (1/16-18)! Staying at Caesars.

Best new casino restaurants:

Craftsteak, MGM (superb meats and vegetables)
Fiamma, MGM (Italian)
Bradley Ogden, Caesars Palace (very gourmet, carrot foam and persimmon reduction etc.)

Rosemary's the great. Be sure to try the Texas BBQ Shrimp with Maytag Blue Cheese Slaw appetizer.

We were there Thursday night.
Outstanding in every way. Expensive, but a lot of these places are.

For inexpensive, we love the Stage Deli in the Forum shops.

Second the visit to Rosemarys dined there twice and really enjoyed it.
Another off the Strip place I really enjoyed is the Wild Sage Cafe on Warm Spring Road and in my opinion is as good as Rosemarys.
I believe run by a couple who were originally chefs at Emerills.
The trumpet mushrooms and StAgar cheese in a puff pastry appetizer is alone worth the trip.

Now there is nothing in the world that could ever persuade me to ever set foot in Circus-Curcus. The whole place IMHO is the worst casino in Vegas makes the LV Hilton look like a gem.
mike

Edited to add that at the both Rosemarys and Wild Sage you will end up paying about half the price for a better meal than even in some of the half-decent places in the casinos. The same bottle of wine is about 50%less and the most expensive item on the menu at Wild Sage is $21. These are places were the mostly locals (and foodies) enjoy great food and service away from the sometimes outrageous prices. Three weeks ago we had lunch at Wolfgang Puck's Spago (Forum Shops) one of our favorites for lunch. Bottle of wine, two soups, split the great duck pizza, two regular coffees = $120
Next night Wild Sage, better bottle of wine, two appetizers, two entrees, deserts, cappucinos = $110.00

The steakhouse at Circus Circus is fine but I would put it below the steakhouses at MGM, Venetian, Palms, Excalibur, Luxor, Hilton...

I don't like Fleming's, nor do I like Paul Fleming's other chain, P.F. Chang's. His quick casual Chinese chain Pei Wei isn't too bad, however.

I have had positive experiences for steak at Charlie Palmer Steak, Craftsteak, and Emeril's Delmonico.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, the Ellis Island coffeeshop isn't too bad considering the price .

Nero's at Caesars is surprisingly good, and less expensive then most of the others. They have an amazing winelist, with many great bargains if you are in the know.

All the restaurants at Caesars have a "master list" available and as Craig said there are some incredible bargains (for Vegas anyway).
