50 MINUTES ?! :eek::eek::eek:

Suddenly I'm happy to mostly just connect in AMS ...

What a goddamn mess. I hope it forces Schiphol to take a good look at the staffing issues there, but I doubt it. They'll probably just hire a fourth private security firm to stand around and do nothing.

I fear this is the start of very long queues. Starting this month, the KMar will also run every EU passport through certain databases. No more quick glances or waving through. So every PAX will take more time to check + some need a secondary.

I assume, trust and hope that Privium members will be exempted.

Thought it was already been done for years; When the iris photograph is taken and directly matched to the biometric template on the card I believe a background check is carried out simultaneously.

The main problem was the electronic passport control did not work. Some people were working in that area. Kmar were understaffed, only 4 booth open.

Today in De Telegraaf newspaper:
KLM haalt keihard uit naar luchthaven:
Nu al chaos op Schiphol
2 uur geleden Paul Eldering

Just the same issues yesterday; non-prio passengers clogging the security check...
Then after the scan, i got "harassed" again, "were are you going?" none of your business..

Yeah, why do they take their jobs so seriously? They're not immigration officers. They've asked me if I was traveling for work or leisure. Who cares? Search my bag please.

I cannot imagine they would be exempted from having their passports run through databases, as that will be done for "security" reasons from which no one is exempt. But hopefully Previum members get their passports run first...

Aviatrix Apr 2, 2017 4:44 pm

Schmeckflyer, the whole point of Privium is that we don't use our passports.

Yep. Noticed this today -- took about 5 seconds longer than it would've before. Sounds like not much but multiply that by the several hundred people who might be in line in front of you and it gets unwieldy.

Right, but I assume that you give your passport details when you register and therefore they don't need to scan it, if you are "flagged" in the system I'm guessing you will get some sort of "computer says no" and have to go and see a KMar.

Another user name to remember Apr 3, 2017 11:40 pm

With departure hall 1A officially opened, I reached out to Privium to hear if the P2 bridge will be reopened soon. Looking at the thing last week, the "Friendship Bridge" in Dandong, China, came to mind.

Privium responded: we are investigating if reopening is possible and will inform our members accordingly. Seems they did not considered this at all...
