I've never seen it this bad. What a mismanaged disaster of an airport.

Does this get coverage into the media? Reminds me of the TSA disaster last year which pushed towards a few actions

Yes. I saw multiple camera crews this morning as well.

If you can, try the filter in departures 3 which is (way) less busy at the moment.

Spoke to several people in line with me at Departures 2 Priority who had flights leaving soon. Personnel wouldn't budge. Total communication meltdown. Found them later in the lounge with missed flights.

Someone's going to have to answer over this. I've never seen it break down this badly and it's not even Summer yet.

According to https://insideflyer.nl/forums/thread...ol.2114/page-2 it's a bit of a mixed bag at the moment .

I'm dreading my trip to LCY in 2 weeks. Day trips to the UK are already tiring, not in the mood to be at the airport at 0430 for a flight at 0730.

I warned a colleague flying out this morning about the insane queues in Departures 2 and advised to go through the checks in Departures 3. He was through in 15 minutes while the other checkpoint would take in excess of 40min!
Very poor spreading on Schiphol's part. They are not interested in providing screens with the estimated waiting time so passengers can choose their checkpoint. The holiday crowd will just take the most obvious route. When there is a peak from a certain airline or route, that will mean a lot of strain on a single checkpoint.

The scanners at the security check are useless, they only check if the boardingcard has the right date.
If you travel with a non elite, just print your bp twice and have the other person use yours aswell. Just leave a minute between going trough the scanner and you will be fine.
This also works at: CPH, BCN and OSL. It does not work at GVA. Next month I will try DUS.
On a side note, the check-in agent at AMS is able to print Skypriority on the bp of a non elite, so just ask at the desk when you travel with a non elite to help you get past the BP Gestapo at the Shengen security check.

I was wondering if that would work. Thanks for sharing.

Oh and yes, this does get attention in the media. Government has even promised 20 million extra for additional KMAR staff this year.

Great, but a lack of KMAR is only part of the problem. The other part is the ridiculous amount of false positives in the scanners that cause slow secondary screenings to be performed, both on people (with the scanners alerting on literally nothing) and on baggage.

And if the Dutch government has Amazon Prime, all the extra officers will be delivered within one day of ordering?

I really am not aware of any other security check that sends anything to secondary inspection when it has a single cable in it.

I'm also not aware of any other place where the security person does a *full* pat-down if the body scanner alerts on only parts of the body. "The scanner said it saw something on your face? Better do a full patdown and check your underwear!"

Current waiting time for Departures 2 is being reported as 15 min for priority and 100 min for the regular line!

And Schiphol's very own Catholic chaplain was arrested in Cambodia two days ago on paedophilia charges, so there's nobody around to console those believers who miss their flights.

What also grinds my gears, is when i am wearing a clean white outfit and security just swipes all over it with their filthy hands. WHere are the alcohol pumps when you need them?
One of the things i love about Japan..:)
