But one airline's silver isn't comparable with another airline's silver - compare FB and M&M. Before 1A was opened, FB Silvers were refused access at priority security (since the benefit was removed), and that was an equally shared security checkpoint. It makes no sense that, now that 1A is open, Silver gets the benefit back one checkpoint but not another.

How about:"they just recycled an old sign and didn't realize it's different from today's benefits" :D:D

I wouldn't put it beyond them!

Haven't flown to non-schengen in a while now. I have SP, so security should be fine. But I'm wondering if there is SP passport control as well. Can anyone tell me if that's the case?

Thanks!

If you are talking about UK or long-haul flights, then yes, you'll have passport control.

amstotheworld Jul 16, 2017 11:35 am

Yes, that's what I mean. But more specifically, is there a dedicated SkyPriority line for passport control or do SP-passengers join non-SP passengers after security for the passport check?

BigFlyer Jul 16, 2017 11:40 am

There was no Sky Priority passport control at the passport control checkpoint that I went through at Departures 3.

There is no priority line whatsoever at passport control at Schiphol anymore.

Zarmakuizz Jul 16, 2017 4:32 pm

Oops, I misunderstood the question, sorry.

KLflyerRalph Jul 17, 2017 10:49 pm

Amazingly, my bags were not sent to secondary and queues were non-existent at Departures 3. Passport gates were also working. The whole process took under 10 minutes.
Nevertheless passing through HKG security om the subsequent flight reminded me that a quick and hassle free check is the norm elsewhere.

T1 Schengen this afternoon. Only two people ahead of me, two priority lanes open, regular lanes not very busy either. However . . . lane 2 had ground to a complete halt, with so many bags backed up at secondary that the three pax at the loading stations had nowhere to put their trays. After a few minutes they were redirected to lane 1, one by one. I thus now had five ahead of me, and in the meantime some genius had created a long line of regular pax behind me.

After several more minutes I was fortunately directed to lane 1, since #2 was still going nowhere. As I was putting my stuff in trays, the pax next to me was instructed to remove his camera from his bag. When he did so, he was next told to take the camera out of its case. He had the temerity to ask why, and was told that this was "so that we can see that it is a camera". Do these security nutters make these things up as they go along? In the meantime I had placed my camera in the tray, without removing it from its case. Security guy said nothing, presumably because he could not see that it was a camera.

The good news is that my bag wasn't sent to secondary, and that I was not frisked. That's only the second time ever. I'm tempted to describe it as a miracle, but then again, I was wearing a T-shirt, shorts and sandals, so at any other airport I would have sailed right through for sure.

I was sent to secondary for an umbrella. The guy checked it, I guess to make sure it wasn't a disguised sword.

I think we all know the answer to that one.

KLflyerRalph Jul 19, 2017 10:52 pm

Miraculously my bag wasn't send to secondary either. I did remove my bag of cables.
The security scanner did alert from what I could see on my wrists so I got frisked. I was wearing short sleeves...

Yesterday at T2 - because flying with the whole family and normal line (no SP). The lines were short but all systems were at a stop because all secondaries were totally backup up....
When we went thru from our 8 pieces 7 were sent to secondary. Chargers and all other electronics were out but still.
My wife prefers to keep her underwear in her hand luggage - so this was in a plastic bag and that was hand search extensively but since there was nothing in there but fabric, in the end ok.

The sign said 0 - 5 minutes waiting time - that was correct up to reaching the actual security check - from there another 20 minutes to make it thru.

One of our sons apparently purchased a credit card knife a few weeks ago - forbidden in NL as it turns out. That was in his wallet and came thru without any issue.

I made him throw it in the garbage while we were having coffee after security.

That is how effective they are at Schiphol security !
