KLM has confirmed to InsideFlyer the PH-AKD is indeed the last A330-300 to be retrofitted and all flying A333's have the full-flat WBC. https://insideflyer.nl/klm-a330-300-...st-nieuwe-wbc/

As I have an A330-300 flight AMS-MIA on Tues, this announcement is not a moment too soon.

PH-AKD is scheduled for KL539 today, so it should be retrofitted! Only 2 to go...

What I am wondering is, why did they choose for at 2-2-2 configuration rather than a 1-2-1 like in the 789's?

QR is retrofitting their A330's with a 2-2-2 to a 1-2-1, and KLM is installing their old product. Awkward.

Also, why not retrofit Y because the IFE system is really outdated, so it looks the same or similar to their 772's, 77W's and 789's?

I don't understand the logic

I flew on a retrofitted A330-200 last month and the economy was also retrofitted to match the B777. Don’t recall which aircraft registration it was though.

They are retrofitting the Y cabin of the A330-200 only, the Y on the A330-300 remains the same.

Why is that?

Because the A330-300 are more recent (delivered between 2012 and 2014) and it seems that they've judged that the Y seats aren't at the end of their life cycle compared the A330-200 which were mostly delivered in 2005/2006.
Although 2 A330-200 (AOM/AON) were delivered later (in 2010 and 2013) so I dunno what will happen to them.

12-13 years old is not the end of their life cycle ? KLM retrofitted B744’s when they were older than 13 years so that can not be an argument ?

Maybe because the 1-2-1 seat in the current 787-9 isn't that great and seems to have a lot of malfunctions in my experience. (There must be a reason they're switching to JAMCO in the 787-10 I suppose?)
I personally prefer the 2-2-2 Diamond seats over the current 787-9 ones.

Yes that might be but why wouldn’t they install the JAMCO seats in the A330’s?

This retrofit was started long before they got involved with the JAMCO seats. I guess their planning and contracting requires stability, you can't just change your mind every time something new comes along (which in any case would have resulted in a mixed seat A330 fleet as some were already completed).

AF is also starting the retrofit of the A332 with 2-2-2 in J. The economics of the plane guided this choice. So I suppose it is the same for KL.

PH-AOE seems to have stopped flying two days ago, leaving only PH-AOF flying with the old seats.

The following article confirms this and mentions that PH-AOF will be retrofitted in January: https://www.upinthesky.nl/2018/12/06/klm-bouwt-laatste-a330-300-om/
