Changing seat on second segment

I am flying BOS-SFO-BOS on JBU. Flew out here the other day, flying back on Friday. I have a middle seat for my return flight, and I'd like to change it. Prior to flying out here, I had the option to change seats on the website, but now when I log in to manage my flight, the I don't have the option. How can I go about trying to change my seat?

Call them. Their phone agents are helpful
Edit: caliform mentioned Twitter; they are also quick to reply on Facebook (~1 hour response time).

+1 on the phone, also try Twitter if you have an account. They're very quick to reply.

So wait, it's impossible to change the seat via the JetBlue website on any successive segments of an itinerary after being checked-in? (The option is currently greyed out for me - found this thread via search.)

Was it a "Blue Minus" fare?

Usually the website seat map is only locked out when you're actively checked into one of the flights on the itinerary. But a quick gander around these parts will reveal that JetBlue's website doesn't always function exactly as it's supposed to.

No, it's a Mint r/t.

I'm currently checked-in for the outbound of a r/t itinerary. Will the seat map for the inbound become "unlocked" once the outbound flight departs (or completes)?

This seems like a huge system limitation....

If you're checked in for a flight, you cannot modify. You can uncheck yourself in, modify and then check in again.

I'd also suggest the chat function on the website, assuming the wait time isn't too long. I was in a similar dilemma in September and they sorted it out in a few minutes.
