Angry Cancellation changed to schedule change

In November my connecting flight from JFK to Burlington was cancelled (computer & JetBlue agents said this). This resulted in my being rebooked on the next flight & a 6 hour delay in getting to Burlington. The Jetblue Bill of Rights brochure I was given spelled out that a cancellation due to controllable irregularities would entitle me to a travel voucher equal to the the cost of the round trip.
Now Jetblue is maintaining that it was not a cancellation, but a schedule change & therefore only worth a $50 credit, instead of almost $300. How can it be a schedule change when that same flight flew out the day before, the day after, & still continues to fly from JFK to Burlington with the same departure time?
I fell I am being jerked around & don't know what to do?

It's possible that a schedule change did occur such that the flight you were on went to a day-of-week operating schedule instead of daily. When were you notified? What kind of email notification did you receive?

No, the "schedule change" was only for one day. That flight was & still is a daily event, with the departure times the same. I was notified verbally of the cancellation of that connecting flight as I was about to board the first leg of my journey that day.

CANCELLATIONS
All customers whose flight is cancelled by JetBlue will, at the customer’s option, receive a full refund or reaccommodation on the next available JetBlue flight at no additional charge or fare. If JetBlue cancels a flight within 4 hours of scheduled departure and the cancellation is due to a Controllable Irregularity, JetBlue will also provide the customer with a $50 Credit good for future travel on JetBlue.

It looks like JetBlue did exactly what they show in the Bill of Rights. They reaccomodated you and also gave you $50 credit just as you said. It seems you interpreted this incorrectly.

I will answer both replies here.

The flight was #74 on 11/18/10.

The Customer Bill of Rights brochure I was given that day by a JetBlue agent stated that if a cancellation is due to a controllable irregularity & occurs within 12 hours of the scheduled departure, then JetBlue will additionally give you a travel voucher for future travel in the amount of the cost of the round trip. It appears that their Bill of Rights no longer is that generous, but I feel in good faith JetBlue should stand by the rules they gave me that day.

That brochure must be incredibly out of date, that hasn't been the policy for years. What city gave that to you? is there a date on it?

There is no date on it. It was given to me at JFK in New York, JetBlue's headquarters, on 11/18/10.
