If political success is akin to an orgasm, this lack of staying power must leave the population as a whole (pun oversight intentional ) panting and dissatisfied. So the question for who next tries to climb aboard the, ah, podium, should be young and genki, or mature and experienced?

Well....... at least he meets the age requirement.

Gotta love the public. Yesterday polls said ~ 60% of the country wanted him to resign.

Today he grants their wish & the the public is shocked.

No matter. It's not as if it will make a difference anyway, IMO.

IMO, Japan has no shame in the Parguay game or the World Cup 2010.

The team played better than expected & was tough defensively. We would stand a better chance if the offensive squad was more aggressive.

Congrats to the team for exceptional effort!

Japan should be deeply ashamed at the way their players cried like a bunch of little girls at the end when they lost. Good sportsmanship requires one to be both a good winner and a good loser.

And they could not even score a point. Winning requires that effort. As you say, too defensive, to the exclusion of offense. Just a pitiful showing in my opinion. and then afterwards, truly ridiculous. Way to represent? No.

True. But the "we're"? I think for Olympics and similar global events such as this, it is important to support one's own country. I was represented by the Americans who did equally poorly and should be ashamed of their whining about goals not credited in the last few minutes. To the American team I would say, "Get real. Score early and avoid the problem of blown calls later." Dominate to win, don't merely hope to is my feeling.
