Japan facts
If you but a bag of "potting soil" in Japan, said bag will contain approximately 25% boulders. Maybe I should just call them rocks, but rocks in the Uluru-sense nonetheless.
I'm just surprised that each rock isn't wrapped separately in plastic.

Do totos now envelope 'rocks' in plastic? I can see how that would solve the smell and splashback predicaments.

"New" hostel in Osaka.
Management by an architect office.
HOSTEL64 Osaka
http://www.hostel64.com/
They don't have bunk beds but they have compartments.
I think the architect blended well Japanese touch and Western functionality; privacy and sociability.
Looks like they advertise on twitter, facebook and flicker.
"New" means the building was built in 1964.

Today I transplanted my shiso (a decent quantity of successful germinations ^) and mitsuba seedlings.
When opening my large bags of soft, moist, potting soil I savoured the glorious lack of stones and rocks. Thanks for pointing out my good fortune, I would have otherwise taken this experience for granted.

Pepsi Summer 2010 has arrived
This year's Pepsi offering is Pepsi Baobab, named after the African tree.

Unlike previous years, this stuff is actually not bad. It tastes like a citrusy/spicy fruit/ginger ale punch and would probably mix well with tequila or rum. Has the trademarked Diet Pepsi aftertaste.
Caution: De gustibus non disputandum est & YMMV.
