TOKYO DO - in Shimbashi - Dec. 1, 2005

UPDATE - NOVEMBER 24

Confirmed participants:

- jib71
- Schoflyer
- mjm
- DoubleJ
- Tad's Broiled Steaks

Eating place:

I've done some trolling through Gurunavi - and came up with this izakaya:
Enoki Tei
Karasumori Building 1F
Tel: 03-3434-5735
http://r.gnavi.co.jp/g133500/

Does this fit the bill?
Shall I make us a reservation? (Currently four people).

Meeting place:

I suggest that we meet at Shinbashi station at 6.00pm - OK?
The easiest place is probably inside the station at the exit closest to the steam locomotive.

I have forwarded my mobile phone number to all of the currently registered participants. Anyone else who thinks that they might join us - please put your name on this thread soon.

PLEASE ADD A POST TO THIS THREAD WITH YOUR NAME IF YOU WILL JOIN US - I WILL KEEP UPDATING THE PARTICIPANT LIST HERE.

you've gone bananas!

fish in the sea indeed!

how about this instead?

Mileage junkie am I (reflecting the essentially selfish nature of our pursuit!)
In first class I fly
liquidising the birds in the sky

I'm up for a Xmas beano with anyone who's still around after the 24th. That would be my last trip to Tokyo for a long long time, which is why I'm especially keen to catch up with some of you.

BTW - Same song also features in "Sleeper"

Can you put Haiku to music???

Maybe we can hire Diane Keaton or Louise Lasser to sing it? The banquet plan would double in cost, but if something's worth doing....

Funnily enough, I've been given a budget of almost exactly 25,860yen per person at my company to spend on our Xmas party (7,500,000 divided by 290). We're off to Spain - lots of cheap drink, an evening meal and bed and breakfast at a 4* Silken. (And next night is the London FT Xmas do - they're even more debauched than my work colleagues... )

Dec. 2/3/4

Ooops - I just realized that Mrs. jib71 is taking me to Okinawa on Dec 2/3/4.

If those are the best dates for you guys, then so be it ....

Personally I would rather meet around November 25-27 (or later in December)

Please post your thoughts and I guess we'll take it from there.

BTW LapLap - There's a chance I might be around at the very end of Dec, If so, I'll be happy to do a boxing-day "do" or some such thing. It's likely to be a very quiet day at the office...

I arrive on Dec 1 and would come out if that night were "chosen."
So my only open nights are 1-4. Then Toyama (meetings), Tokyo (meetings), Bangkok (golf). Happy to give one to FT, but I'd like to decide soon.
