Hyperdia timetable

The easily searched Hyperdia timetable is no longer available.
I'm wondering if anyone has found another way of finding a JR rail timetable.

The JR websites have their timetables. Not as user-friendly, but it's all there.

That's a huge loss, especially when trying to figure out your "last train" options.

"It's all there," assuming all you need is JR services. That's only a tiny amount of the usefulness that Hyperdia added. Playing around with it a bit, Hyperdia is still going to be quite useful in calculating the best route and about how long it will take, but no more "last train," and it also makes it much more complicated to meet up with someone at a designated station and time and for each to figure out exactly what they need to do to get there.

The current Hyperdia scheme provides the following schedule shown below.
I was accustomed to selecting a departure time and then seeing the arrival/departure times at each station along the route. Additionally, the current scheme shows only itineraries which include a train change but doesn't show the Uzushio 8 which departs Tokushima at 0923 and arrives at Okayama at 1133.
How/where can I get some of that information?

Jorudan still has the first and last train option
https://world.jorudan.co.jp/mln/en/?sub_lang=nosub

I've also used NaviTime app in English
Mobile apps https://www.navitime.co.jp/pcstorage...ravel/english/
Route Search on desktop https://japantravel.navitime.com/en/area/jp/route/
I mostly use their JP website https://www.navitime.co.jp/ for bus routes and driving route tolls.

Few more options suggested here https://www.reddit.com/r/japanlife/c...e_to_hyperdia/

Hyperdia was my go-to, too.

Timetable search sample from Tokushima, including towards Takamatsu. The timetable option is on the upper right.

Free way to filter out Nozomi for National Rail Pass if someone finds this via Google when tourism is allowed

freecia, thanks for those links.
I stumbled upon a JR West site which works in very similar fashion to Hyperdia. The site worked for all of my test itineraries between Tokyo and stations to the west and on the routes for the Hokuriku and Joetsu Shinkansen. However, it did not work for any routes between Tokyo and any stations along the Tohoku Shikansen route. So, I'll use the JR West site along with the jorudan site for future JR trips.

We've been fortunate to have had access to the free Hyperdia site for many years. It would be worth paying for a one/two month subscription just prior to a trip-Hyperdia had been a great planning tool.

I use the Yahoo Japan timetable app. That is pretty amazing, and with the latest update you don't have to search based on kana input, you can use latin letters as well.

Secondly, I use something as simple as Google maps, it is almost as effective, it just seems to lack shihatsu. But the shuden search works well.

Just get a friend to poke you in the back while you're searching.

Would be nice with some shiatsu while looking for shihatsu train information. 😁

My last time in Japan was January 2020.. right before COVID exploded. I used to use Hyperdia for EVERYTHING transit related for Japan. Now which Android app do people recommend? I'm not in Japan yet (arriving in a few days) so I can't test it.. just want to have an alternative loaded on my phone and ready to go.

On another web site someone suggested Jorudan Japan Transit Planner? Is that the best one? or a better one that has an app for Android?

Haven't tried the Jorudan app but I've played around with the desktop version. It seems like you have to sign-up if you want access to "route search" option. However the "rail search pass option" is free to use but appears to cover only stations covered by the JR railpass.

I used Jorudan (on browser) and cross checking with google map directions. Worked quite well as I can pick & choose according to my wish.
