Was able to check in last night to my JFK to HND flight (Booked with VS) on ANA no problem. However, this morning at 24 hr online check in, I could not complete check in for my HND to SYD (Booked on LM) flight. I will land in HND at 6pm and fly out to SYD at 10 pm so transit route is under 24 hours in HND. I have boarding pass for JFK to HND printed but do not have HND to SYD printed, only a print out of the online check in page which says "Already Checked in" but boarding pass "not issued". When trying to print, it says "Online Check-in service is not available. Please check in at the airport on the day of your departure." Will there be any problems?

Just wanted to report back and let everyone know that there was no issues checking in luggage from JFK to HND to Syd on two separate PNRs on ANA (one from VS and LM). Had an amazing time in ANA F The Suite. Unbelievable hard and soft product.
Fiance flew JAL F to HND and then ANA to SYD and had no problem. Was also not able to print boarding pass at 24 hr OLCI but printed e-ticket/itinerary and showed that to check in agent and they had no issues. Printed the ANA ticket at the ANA lounge in HND.

Thank you for the data point. Very reassuring! My LAX-HND flight in the Suite is this coming week, then 4 hr layover before HND-TSA, both NH. Same arrangement as yours (two separate PNR from VS/LM). Wish you and your fiance had been able to enjoy the Suite together! I'm sure you two compared notes. What's the verdict (well, a little unfair given that JAL F has not been updated for a while)?

Looking at doing JFK-HND on JAL and connecting to HND-SIN on SIN in December, no checked baggage and about a six hour layover.

Is there a transit desk for Singapore where I could get my onward boarding pass? Also a little worried if I’d be allowed to board at JFK to begin with.

Why would you be worrying? Is this JL to JL? Same ticket? Even on separate tickets and/or even connecting to SQ, as long as you meet the Singapore vax/test and return flight requirement, you won't have a problem. If all on JL, JFK staff will issue your HND-SIN boarding pass and do the requisite doc check.

Definitely a lot of paranoia, but good to know this should be okay. This is two separate tickets, one an AA award redemption on JAL and the second a paid ticket on SIN.

International - Domestic - International Allowed?

Just booked a trip for next February, but unsure, if transit rules don't change, if I will be SOL:

BKK-KIX-NRT-DEN, specifically the transfer from KIX-NRT. BKK-KIX is one itinerary (TG), KIX-NRT on GK (JetStar), NRT-DEN on UA. All flights/transits in Japan on the same day.

Would I be allowed to connect to a domestic flight in KIX, with proof of an onward international flight?

Currently not, by February who knows. Though there was an article in Nikkei today that indicated that the visa waiver would be reinstated during October, and then all would be OK for your itinerary.

Rather than reply to this post here, I have opted to make it in the currently inactive Ramen in Japan thread. :)

hi everyone, very interesting thread i would like to ask anyone who might know, i have a visa for japan from september 4th to 11th (ANA)(NRT), then i go to korea on the 11th (OZ)(ICN), and finally return to the US via NRT (OZ, then ANA, separate tickets) on the 19th, but the catch is:

1. Different ticket on OZ and ANA
2. Both are Star Alliace
3. Will i be able to check in through baggage to the US from korea?
4. Will i bee able to make chek in at ANA on the airside in narita, is there an ANA transit desk in the airside zone?
5. My japana visa i until the 11th, so only transit is available for me

l really hope someone can help me out :)

and sorry for my english :) i rechecked my spelling and coherence xD

update:

im currently at the airside in ICN, no problem checking the luggage all the way to the US... (separate tickets) took way longer.. about 20 to 30 minutes... but no problem whatsoever

Hello, I cannot get the following award ticket into one ticket through Star alliance redemption. So I will have two separate tickets:

Guam to NRT via United
NRT - LAX via ANA

When I land in NRT, do I need to exit the airport, clear immigration to go to ANA desk to get my ANA boarding pass? Or can I just go to ANA desk airside and have them issue me a boarding pass? I would prefer not to exit the airport, but I am not familiar with NRT airport as far as traveling with 2 separate tickets and 2 confirmation codes go. I won't be checking any bags, just one carry-on only. This trip is next year and hopefully Japan is fully open like it used to be again.

No, you will be able to check-in for both flights at Guam with United, and they will also send your bags (if you were checking them) all the way through, as long as your layover doesn't last overnight. I suspect by next year all of this will be moot though.

It's two separate tickets through - the Guam segment I booked with Air Canada, and the NRT to LAX I book with Virgin Atlantic. So you are saying I can ask United to issue the NRT - LAX ticket in Guam as well even though it's booked with VS and it's an ANA flight (not a United flight)?

Yes, that's what I'm saying. Doesn't matter that it's two separate tickets, they're the same alliance, UA will check you through on ANA, even if you booked with VS and AC. I have booked through UA to NH (booked via VS) many times.

Oh thanks so much. That will be awesome. Hopefully Guam person is competent when I ask him/her to do that. I supposed I’ll have to show them my itinerary. It’s not something they just see when check me in for the Guam to NRT flight, right?

If for whatever reason they're not able to (I don't see any reason why they wouldn't), you can also check in for the ANA segment at NRT. They have a transfer desk in Terminal 1. Also, since this is booked via VS, I assume you have a J or F ticket, you should get automatic check in with a boarding pass issued to you electronically like 24 hours before your flight, so it might not even be an issue for you since you're not checking bags.

To your question, yeah definitely bring a printout of your itinerary for ANA, it'll make checkin much smoother.
