Yes, my plan will be at the end of the year, so way after 10/11. Where did you hear the news from?
Edit: also did you mean 11th of October or 10th of November? Considering this is an international forum, I want to make sure :) |

A shout out and thank you to this community re: my inquiry last month re: transiting in NRT/HND. I flew NH LAX-HND-TSA on two different tickets both on NH metal (VS and LM redemptions) - no problem checking in with luggage through final destination. Just returned TPE-NRT-LAX on two different redemptions on BR and then on NH via VS. No problems at all. Of course for most, this will no longer be an issue after Oct 11, but just wanted to offer thanks and an extra data point for the time being. Flew in the Suite - it was great, except the NH105 LAX-HND was a night flight with limited meal service, but the cabin was super comfortable and the service was great!

Hi everybody,
My Thai girlfriend is flying from Thailand to Canada on October 3rd, and I have less than 5 hours left to cancel if my itinary doesn't work. I need your input, as she will be transiting in Narita Airport and changing terminals. Departing from Thailand : 0:25 AM October 3rd (Japan Airlines) Arriving and transiting in Japan : 8:40 AM October 3rd, departing at 17:30 PM on the same day. She arrives at Terminal 2 (T2), and must transfer to Terminal 1 (T1). Departing to Canada : 17:40 PM October 3rd (Air Canada) I have booked the flights directly on Air Canada's website. As of October 1st, there will be no covid-19 entry requirements to enter Canada. Air Canada has confirmed that her luggage will be checked through. My girlfriend is unvaccinated and is not planning on bringing a negative covid-19 test result, as I don't think it is necessary. Will she run into any issue boarding her first flight from Thailand to Japan, or trying to change terminals at Narita Airport? Thank you so much for your help!! |
Never mind.

Interestingly I have the same exact itinerary except its LAX to NRT. When will you be departing? We depart October 4 and I'm also trying to figure out what my options are.
Just got to Korea and wanted to share my experience with the above itinerary. We ended up flying earlier and flew JAL in First direct from NY to NRT. We had the Ethiopian flight leaving NRT to ICN later in the evening. We ended up risking bringing baggage to try to check in as I also had called JAL customer service center in Japan who mentioned they have a codeshare with Ethiopian so they said checking in bags is no problem. We arrived at the airport and the JFK JAL agents had no problem tagging the bags to go all the way to Seoul. When we got to the gate in ICN for our Ethiopian flight, the agent did call us up and checked our bag tags but said our bags should be on the plane. Sure enough, when we arrived in Seoul, the bags were waiting for us. Phew! |

If the lounge is not too crowded to accept priority pass then it should be fine. There may be time limit though?

Ethiopian airlines
For those who flew w Ethiopian airlines to Asia, how was it? I saw a few biz class tix available for around 80K points but didn't pull the trigger since I had not heard positive things about the airline.

I arrive in Narita at 12:35 on October 18th, I have to pickup SIM card and exchange my voucher for the JR Rail Pass, how realistic is it to hope to catch the Narita Express at 13:45?

Not particularly realistic. Rumour has that the visitors' lines at immigration are getting quite long. Unless of course your flight arrive early.
Ah well, thanks for the info. |

Bugger.
Ah well, thanks for the info. With visitors coming in in greater numbers, the lines for the JR Rail Pass may also be growing. |

The N'EX runs every 30 minutes most of the the day.
With visitors coming in in greater numbers, the lines for the JR Rail Pass may also be growing. For many destinations in Tokyo, the bus or Keisei line trains are cheaper and more convenient than N'EX. Depending on the OP's plans, it may make sense to skip the lines to validate the JR pass at NRT - The process can be handled at several stations in Tokyo: https://japanrailpass.net/en/exchange.html |
