Same as the US
If you fly ANA domestic to HND, you might have a long walk after you deplane. You will collect your bags, and then leave the sterile area through a one-way door. (You cannot go back to the baggage carousel after you leave the sterile area). Then you will take a shuttle bus or monorail to the International Terminal. I think 2.5 hours for a connection from Domestic to International is do-able, but if your flight to HND is delayed by an hour, you will miss the window to check luggage. I think AA check-in desks will close an hour before departure. |

Are you on one ticket or separate tickets? You should be able to check your bags through to LAX. I'm not so sure if that ANA will do it to a non *A carrier otherwise. |

Just noticed this thread after I posted in a seperate thread:
I bought seperate tickets for JFK-NRT-HGH, first leg on JL and second on ANA with 25 hour transit. Does anyone know if JL allows boarding (US greencard, Chinese passport) without visa so that I can apply transit visa on arrival at NRT? Is PCR test result required? Also does JL handle luggage interline with ANA ? Thanks. |

Generally, if you enter Japan, you either need a boosted vaccination or a PCR test. |

You can either get a transit visa by contact the Japanese embassy or consulate, or you can get a shore pass via your airline. But as you are on separate tickets, you will probably have to for for the transit visa option. But you'd need to talk to JAL and/or the embassy to know.

I can't be the only one this happens to and yet I haven't seen this mentioned during my research:
I recently booked the Royal Park Haneda Transit for a family member trying to keep an overnight layover super simple. Only that I booked the landside one instead. This seems to happen often enough that they have a process to escort visitors past security without VJW which is what happened in this case (including a second unrelated guest). So my mistake appears to be that the booking function for Royal Park Haneda Transit is tucked away at the very bottom of the Transit Area page. The transit booking process includes a transit area disclaimer and the only plans are 6 and 12 hours. The other standout feature is it's very booked. Everything else will book the landside part. Do I have this right this time around? I'm trying to decide whether to use the Royal Park (air side) or exit the airport. I'm leaning towards the transit hotel because I'm landing at night (8:30pm) and will have a 12 year-old kid with me. Other factors / questions I have:
|
The Mrs’ flight arrived late and by the time she was escorted over to the landside transit hotel everything but the Air Lawson on the first floor was closed. You may have more options since you arrive earlier both land- and airside, but others would know better about that. All I would say is optimizing things to try and stay airside does not seem particularly worth it to us and the Villa Fontaine would be the first thing I would consider next time assuming we still prefer not to leave the airport.

Also, to confirm, there are technically 2 hotels, the Villa Fontaine Grand and Villa Fontaine Premier. My understanding is that they're at the same location, but just better room for the Premier. Is that correct? |
Hi,
hope I'm right in this thread with my question. I have a international flight booked with a depature at midnight from HND. I still need book a flight to HND to for the connection on a different ticket. I'm trying not to spend to much time at HND but plenty enough to have a secure connection and I will be travelling with checked bags. So one option would be a planned arrival at 6:35 p.m. and the other would be 5:45 p.m. - any guess on what might be the better option? I'm a little bit concerned regarding the immigration time or do both option have plenty of time to have a relaxed transfer? Thanks! |

It is not a given you have to do immigration between the two flights, it depends on the specific airlines in question, whether you have checked luggage, and probably a few other pieces of the puzzle. If you can put specific airlines to your proposed arrival flights, and departure flight, it would be easier to advice.
I would have checked bags and thats why I was thinking of choosing the JL flight because they have a codeshare agreement mit Emirates but on the other hand if this does not work the time between the flights is nearly 1 hour closer... The main problem is that the two flights will be on seperated tickets... Thanks for your help! |

Any suggestions for that? |
