Corona related JAL announcements page link.
https://www.jal.co.jp/jp/en/info/2020/other/200228/

Just to kick start a wiki, with answers to frequent questions.
1. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. NGO-HNL is booked in business class, but HND-NGO is in economy. Will we still get the baggage allowance as if we're flying business class the whole way?
A: Yes. written here (link)
2. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. Will we have lounge access in HND?
A. Definitely, within the lounge access rules of course. written here (link)

i wanted to know what is the earning rate for FLY ON miles when flying on OW carriers.

On JAL website it implies you can only earn FOP when flying on JAL group flights only with the calculator only catering to JAL flights - i can probably give about 6 different pages as well on JAL that make a specific reference to FOP points being different to Millage Accrual
Example: https://www.jal.co.jp/en/jalmile/flyon/guide.html

However i accidentally stumbled across a OW page on JAL which stats that "* JAL Group airlines and/or oneworld member airlines' flights with eligible fares for mileage accumulation are eligible for FLY ON status qualification."

Reference - https://www.jal.co.jp/en/oneworld/flight_mileage.html

As such, just wanted to know how FOP are earned when flying on other OW carriers or is it that only flights on OW metal are allowed so long as its marked as a JAL flight?
It’s the same as the amount of miles for other oneworld flights

many thanks but im more interested in how its calculated as it doesnt really say - the oneworld part of the JAL site (https://www.jal.co.jp/en/oneworld/flight_mileage.html) refers you back to the link where it say that FOP's are only acruable through JAL group flights?

but that being said, and the website is just incorrect (as it happens from time to time) how do you calculate the FOP's earned - for instance if i fly QR from DOH to LHR and credit to JMB

I know Award miles accrued is by distance x class of travel but nothing on FOP

furthermore if its based on the JAL formula how do you calculate the distance as JAL does not use distance miles (per se) but publishes their own list

I think you're over reading the FOP page. FOPs are earned on both JAL and OW flights. Bonus FOP points are only on JAL flights.

The FOPs earned on OW flights is the same as the redeemable miles earned (flight mileage (mileage x fare class multiplier)) since the international/non-domestic Japan multiplier is 1.

For fare class multiplier, look at the individual airline page, such as
https://www.jal.co.jp/en/jmb/earn/travel/flight/qr.html

Mileage calculation is based on IATA tables, so essentially standard with everywhere else to within a handful of miles. To double check, use
https://www121.jal.co.jp/JmbWeb/JR/S...673.1588180474
(hopefully that link works, otherwise look for sector mileage calculator on any partner page)

Many thanks - you know when you read something so many times it begins to blur and you start loosing track of things.

Doesnt help also that JAL calls the umbrella terms flight millage and the award miles flight mileage as well - think that was what really messed with me.

so just to set my understanding straight

- on OW flights non domestic FOP is equal to Award Miles as multiplier is 1x
- therefore from DOH to LON in F it would be FOP = 3,240 (miles) x 1.5 (F)

just so i also understand the bonus system (and confirm understanding)

if i was JMB crystal and i flew BA instead in F would it be

FOP = 3,240 (miles) x 1.5 (F) x 25% (BA Bonus)?

There is no status bonus on FOP. that is only on redeemable miles. So whether you fly BA or QR on the DOH LHR leg the earning is the same.

Yeah I Know. But they can just cancel it anytime, that’s why I’m still a little bit anxious. My flights with BA have been canceled suddenly before..

this is JAL,. they will announce on the website in advance.
not much more you can do about your anxiety other than postponing your flight until the pandemic is over.
