Just to kick start a wiki, with answers to frequent questions.
1. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. NGO-HNL is booked in business class, but HND-NGO is in economy. Will we still get the baggage allowance as if we're flying business class the whole way?
A: Yes. written here (link)
2. We're flying HND-NGO-HNL. Will we have lounge access in HND?
A. Definitely, within the lounge access rules of course. written here (link)

How long, in your experiences, does JAL take to refund a Tokubin1 fare for a domestic flight? Cancelled about 20 days before departure.

I assume you paid with credit card. It depends on your credit card processing. I would say it can take up to 2 billing cycles.

Awesome, thank you. I did indeed pay with a (U.S. issued) credit card.

Yes, you can pay to upgrade to PY for both.

Thank you both,

Does JAL offer discounted upgrades similar to AA's upgrade offers at check-in?

My girlfriend and I are starting to plan a trip to TYO for next winter and I'd really like to take JAL out there. I have enough miles for a RT Y seat and we'd split the cost of her Y seat. Given that it'll likely be our longest trip of the year, I'm willing to pay up to PY but I'd like to do that as cheaply as possible. We ran into an issue on a flight recently where I was offered a buy-up at check-in and she was not because we were not on the same PNR. That's why I asked about it.

It won't be a problem. The same-day upgrade will be offered to both of you at the published price as long as seats are still available.

You may be better off buying and redeeming premium economy from the get go though.

Would JAL F out of ORD give you access to the new AA Flagship lounge? Wasn't sure if Oneworld partners would have access once completed. Thanks.

My understanding is this is NOT a BA concord room like lounge, so you should have access.

Buying and redeeming PE immediately? I'm afraid I don't follow.

Just pay for a Premium economy class ticket for your gf and redeem a premium Economy award for yourself.

I didn't realize that JAL had PE awards available via AA miles. How many miles is it?

Finally got everything sorted today after numerous additional calls with the Japan office.

Had to escalate everything to supervisor... and wasted some $ calling.

Sorry forgot you are using AA miles. AA chose not to offer it. But you can redeem it via other partners such as BA.
