Copying over the usual promotion info to the new thread:

For newcomers to IHG promotions, note that Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn (including Holiday Inn Resorts) are two different brand categories for these things. If your dashboard says 'stay at a Holiday Inn Express' as one of the tasks and you stay at a Holiday Inn, it will NOT credit for the Holiday Inn Express task. (and vice versa)

At IHG, points + cash stays are simply points stays where you bought some of the points at the time of the reservation. Once you finish the reservation, a points + cash stay shows as a points stay. Thus points + cash stays only count for tasks where they are specified, and not other tasks.

Doing a points + cash booking and then cancelling it does NOT trigger a 'buy points' task completion.

The 'pay with your IHG credit card' task has typically been very slow to post. If it does within about two weeks of completing a stay, that's relatively quick, and it will often be several weeks beyond that, depending on when your statement closing date is and how IHG's system sweep is timed.

Some offers require booking within the promotion period in addition to staying during the promotion period.

As an added datapoint, right after my final Accelerate task posted (stay 5 nights), I actually got a new e-mail, with all the yada about being an over-achiever, and offering me the 3-night, 5000 points to the end of August e-mail.

Hi, apologies if this is a dumb question - but can I book a cheap IHG hotel (eg. Bali) just in order to complete my Accelerate, even if I don't turn up to check into the hotel? Or will the fact I didn't check in mean it doesn't count?

Thanks in advance if anyone knows...

If you don't check in at the hotel, you will be a no-show and subject to whatever the no-show penalty is. You will not get any credit for a stay.

This is just like airline frequent flyer miles. Buying an air ticket does not earn you the miles - you have to sit on the airplane.

Dear all

I recently booked two rooms on the same date (two nights per room).

When I checked my IHG account today, this booking was classified as "Overlapping Stay". Henceforth, one of the rooms had 2 Qualifying Nights.

HOwever the other has 2 non-qualifying (with reason Non-Qualifying overlapping Stay).

Do anyone knows, given the above, would two or four nights be considered for "Stay More, Earn More".

Thank you.

Two. With IHG, you can only stay in one room per night.

Hard to say exactly, but presumably about 2 to 3 weeks before the start of the promo. (But will the next promo start on Sep 1 or Sep 15? No one knows for sure until they announce it.)

The current promo was announced about 2.5 weeks before it started. The previous promo about 3 weeks before it started. The promo before that 2 weeks before it started.

IHG app

I haven't had a laptop since May 2017 so solely use my phone and tablet to use the internet. One of the current Accelerate offers is to book 4 stays with the app which I completed on 23 July.

After asking why I haven't been awarded the points for completing the task, and expecting the usual "wait 3 weeks" I was surprised to be told I hadn't used the app on my fourth booking.

Really? How do we check if this is correct? On the confirmatory emails, as far as I can see, there is nothing to distinguish whether the booking was made on a pc/laptop or a mobile device. The emails confirming the first 3 bookings that IHG do accept were made on my mobile look no different to the 4th disputed one. Can anyone advise?

Thanks.

Ok, but are you sure you used the app and not the mobile website (and you didn't modify the reservation on the mobile website either)? Both work on a mobile device, but the promo specifically requires the app.

I don't know how they tell which reservations were booked with the app. They've had such "book with the app" tasks for many cycles of Accelerate and similar promos over the last few years, and no one has ever seen any indication they can see themselves showing how their reservations were made. So if there is indication, it's only visible somehow to IHG (maybe in the reservation itself, or may they have to cross-check with some other database?), not to you.

My completion bonus points are contingent upon the following task:
Book and pay for one stay with your IHG MasterCard. Which I have done. Anyone know how long it takes to show this task as completed? Does the MC statement need to close first? It has been almost three weeks since the qualifying stay.

I take a screen shot of the booking so if there is a problem I have proof it was an app booking. I have done this since I lost out on points when IHG said I hadn't used the app, when I had.

In my case last time I contacted CS after the statement and they said to wait 8 weeks after the original stay had posted. After that time it still didn't post so they had to give me the points manually!

It seems from other posts on this thread that this often doesn't post.
