Planning to stay here in two weeks. Have stayed here many times in the last fifteen years and love it. Just wondering if anyone has had difficulty getting in or out of the hotel because of protests? It appears that there have been many right in that vicinity. Things to be getting a bit worse in HK and I just want to be prepared. Thanks!

I was there during a weekend about 5 weeks ago. There were some protests on the walkway/bridge on the water side of the hotel, but they seemed peaceful and did not affect the in and out. It seems that protests are mainly on the weekend. Also it seems difficult to predict, but I still would book the hotel and potentially have a plan B.

Last weekend the place was very quiet although there were signs of the protests - “ideas are bulletproof” spray painted beautifully at the front of the hotel.

The staff could not have been more helpful regarding helping us avoid the protests.

Things have taken a turn for the worst this week. I wouldn't recommend being in HK unless you have to be until it has blown over. Will echo the sentiment that the staff were very courteous and helpful.

I went to visit someone in Fo Tan and wasn't able to get back to the hotel for several hours because the East Rail Line was increasingly suspended over the evening, buses had all but abandoned the area, Ubers couldn't get through and no taxi firm I tried would send a car.

Heading here in three weeks time for a couple of days. What is the mood like in the hotel? Is it busy? Will be interesting to see how much we can move around - we've got a day planned in Macau so hoping the ferries are running ok.

Very interested in this as well. I'm tentatively planning to stay in four days. I would guess that it's very quiet in the hotel at this point, but hoping that someone can chime in.

The description of the hotel as “quiet” meant that there were no demonstrations outside.

Otherwise it wasn’t at all quiet. Breakfast was packed downstairs and the club was busy.

Inside des the hotel was 100% as usual.

I don't know, I'd say the prices for next week are still pretty high ($232 per night is the cheapest) given that it's practically in a conflict zone. These pictures were taken a few days ago nearby the Intercontinental Hong Kong...

I was at the hotel last weekend and was stuck inside the property Monday evening as it was impossible to leave the hotel and had to have to spend an extra night there.

Wow! Nuts. What would happen if someone had to get to the airport to catch a flight? Being unable to do that is a major headache...

I'm booked to stay at IC HK for five nights later this week. Hope things calm down by then... fingers crossed. Will post a full review after the stay.

The area seems to be OK now. I live nearby. Sunday a week ago sirens were heard all night long. Then the following day (Monday), it was really bad as the whole area was locked down. The picture above was probably taken right after the Monday's big clash. Those few days couldn't return home and had to book a hotel somewhere else. Now seems like back to business as usual. Parts of the sidewalks that were turned into "sandy beaches" by protesters digging up the bricks to block the roads, were patched in already as well. Hunghom tunnel linking Kowloon and HK side is still not open due to severe damages. But as long as MTR is fully functional, getting ard shouldn't be an issue.

I'll be back in HK in early 2020 and this is my first time staying at an IC there. I booked a superior room. From the pictures, I don't recalled seeing a room with a window. I have Platinum Ambassador status. Is there anything that I can do now to ensure that j can get the best room possible for my rate? Am I entitled to a room upgrade and 4 PM check-out due to my status?

I'm guessing breakfast isn't included. Is it worth paying for it? Is the quality any good?

Since this will be my first time staying there, does anyone here have tips and advice on restaurants and activities to do in the area? Hopefully the protests won't be a problem then.
