What is your IHG One Rewards status?
Diamond Inner Circle Royal Ambassador
Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Absolutely.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest, received 1 King Bed Classic Minatomirai View Club (Former Club InterContinental City View Room).
How are the rooms?
45sqm. Interior design made me imagine the globe-trotter suitcase. Excellent view. Well done engineering review especially power plugs placement included USB power supplies is well considered. Also night lights placement is well considered. Bathrooms have electric privacy glass. No any difference between club room and deluxe room, other than the club benefits.
Video of 1 King Bed Classic Minatomirai View Club (Club InterContinental Bay View Room):
How is the exec. lounge?
400sqm. Huge lounge. Excellent food and beverage offerings (they have branch time from 11AM to 1PM) nice view. Friendly and excellent staff.
Video of Club InterContinental Lounge:
Hot canaps platter
Cold canaps platter
Breakfast tenderloin steak
How was the mini-bar?
No Champagne in the mini-bar (but in the “To order” mini-bar menu). And noteworthy, soft drinks are all free of charge for every guests! (Refill order requires a charge.)
Mini-bar slip
What was your welcome gift?
Japanese sweets, Chocolates, and Macaroons.
Did you receive fruit in the room?
Yes.
What was good?
++++++++++ Guest recognition (every staff very kindly care to me)
++++++++++ View
++++++++++ Rooms
++++++++++ Club Lounge
+++++ Security (requires card key from hotel entrance. Upon arrival, door staff open the door. Stay guest can open the entrance by room key.)
+++++ Free soft drinks of mini-bar for every guests.
+++++ Club Benefit included hotel exclusive cruise boat tour.
Video of harbour cruise tour:
What was bad?
- - - - - A little bit far from the train/subway stations.
- - - - - Small fitness facilities. No pool, sauna, and bath house.
Value for $ or One Rewards Points?
Yes, average 350USD per night for classic room is triple price of IC Yokohama Grand, but it has worth to pay.
Would you return?
Definitely. From my point of view, this hotel qualities and services are almost exceeded IC Osaka. One of the top InterContinental Hotel properties in the world.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay ?
Yes, very much so.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked standard room on points. Given large multi-room suite, above the club.
How are the rooms?
Large two-sink bathroom, with separate bathtub and shower cabin. Two doors to the bathroom and both were soundproofed. Bal d'Afrique products. Separate salon, desk area, entrance area.
How was the mini-bar?
Pretty good, with a nice white Penedes wine that we enjoyed each day.
How is the exec. lounge?
Exceptionally good service and good F&B for the more part. Veuve Cliquot Champagne, cava and the usual Spanish wines, beer, etc. Food all day with some hot food at 17h. But the hot food was somewhat low class. That was the only knock I have on the club. The service was excellent all day and at breakfast. Eggs cooked to order and staff circulating at all times. Cava available at breakfast.
What was good and what was bad?
No one said anything about it, but parking was free. They parked my car and handed me the keys when they brought the bags to the room.
Our kids, who stayed at the Indigo, were welcome in the club when they visited.
Wow, the spa is really nice. Similar facilities to the Hilton LHR T5, but vastly better service.
Bad
Nothing
Value for € or IHG One Rewards Points? Would you return?
I will absolutely reward this great treatment with return visits. I was a regular at the W, but now I prefer the IC. Plus I booked during the recent discount points promo.
Yes, very much so.

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
No
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a Classic Room and received a Classic Room (middle / high floor) as the 2-tier upgrade at; basically same room type and layout, same view, just different floor, that's all. I queried this twice during my stay and was told it was correct. The hotel GM has also since confirmed that their current Royal Ambassador Upgrade Policy is as follows:
Cosy Room -> Classic Room (middle floor)
Classic Room -> Classic Room (high floor)
How are the rooms?
Rooms have been renovated since my last stay pre-pandemic - they're much better appointed with lots of charging points and the bathroom is also a step up from before.
How is the exec. lounge?
The Lounge layout is the same with very helpful and attentive staff. I only managed to have breakfast and evening canaps there but both had a good spread and the staff were very attentive with their table service.
Did you receive a welcome gift?
Fruit Platter
How was the minibar?
Minibar was fully stocked from what I can see, but I did not really touch it so can't list out what it had.
What was good and what was bad?
-Good
I've always like the location of this hotel with the JR station being so close and lots of nice restaurants nearby. It also used to have a good connection to NRT airport with the Limousine Bus but that has been suspended due to the pandemic and is still not running.
Club Lounge is conducive both for working in if you need a quiet space, or for just relaxing.
-Bad
Have stayed a lot here pre-pandemic and always received really good room upgrades (suites). But it now seems that they're playing the same game that the IC Sydney at Circular Quay did previously, with a myriad of different descriptions for what is essentially the same room, which obfuscates the room upgrade policy. A 2-tier upgrade from a Classic Room, to another Classic Room was the last straw for me and I can't see myself rushing to return here anytime soon.
Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Not really - there are plenty of other excellent properties (including other ICs) in the area at the same price-point, and given the new room upgrade policy, it is not good value in my opinion.
Would you return?
No

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay ?
Yes, as always.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked family room, given the usual Prestige Harbor Suite
How are the rooms?
Massive, with very high ceilings and windows that open fully to the harbor or over the terrace. Huge master bathroom with a standalone tub, and guest bathroom, next to the kitchen which has a second mini-bar. Clarins bath products.
How was the mini-bar?
Good and bad. They still have the Deutz Champagne, and a small ros, but no other alcohol other than one sad Heineken.
How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge here. They gave me a bar card for one drink and I kindly asked for it to be a drink for two and they complied. But I think that was exceptional. The bar is still excellent and still quite busy with the locals.
What was good and what was bad?
The Clarins spa is still excellent.
Breakfast was included for everyone and as it was sunny and beautiful each morning we had it outside.
We had a large welcome offering of a full bottle of ros, fruit and fruit juices, water, local cookies, etc., all served on the large dining table in the suite along with a nice hand-written card from the directrice.
Bad
Nothing

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay ?
Yes, as always.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked king premier, given the Abraham Lincoln Suite. https://washington.intercontinental....lincoln-suite/
How are the rooms?
Very large (1425 ft2/132 m2) and ornate suite with a lot of attention to quality. Salon with dining table for 8, butler pantry, bar, guest and master bathroom. Mini-bars and Nespresso both in bedroom and salon.
How was the mini-bar?
Pretty good with a wide selection of snacks and drinks.
How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge here. I was given a drink card for the Round Robin bar that was quite busy during my stay.
What was good and what was bad?
The best upgrade I've had here so far. I remember some years ago they tried to upsell me to this suite, but this time it was free. And I called them on the day of check out to extended my stay. Happily I was allowed to stay in this amazing suite.
Excellent classic room service dining with good food and menu.

I love the quiet and elegant boutique hotel atmosphere of the hotel, with quality of service at the level of very best Four Seasons hotels (ability to anticipate needs in a unintruisive way).
The hotel is indeed very pleasant, and swimming outdoors in November is quite a pleasure (water is chilly but weather was very sunny).

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very, back there after my last visit almost exactly 3 years ago.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
A bit complicated. Asked them about a suite. Since they now have myriads of room types they came back suggesting to book a standard room, get the RA upgrade and then pay for an upgrade to a 'real' suite - which I did.
How are the rooms?
Spacious Living room with 3 sofars, Bedroom. Bathroom with separate tub and shower and toilet and separate toilet next to living room
How is the exec. lounge?
Excellent, fully operational with breakfast, afternoon tea, happy hour. Good selection. I found some of the dishes for happy hour were a bit boring and tasteless, but service was absolutely perfect.
Did you receive a welcome gift?
Bottle of wine, relatively large fruit basket, a tray with nuts and raisins, chocolates, extra water
How was the minibar?
Average
What was good and what was bad?
-Good
Service
Lounge
-Bad
Nothing really
Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Very good
Would you return?
I most likely will loose RA next year (not many stays this year). This will make me reconsider.
But as RA i absolutely would.
