I love the quiet and elegant boutique hotel atmosphere of the hotel, with quality of service at the level of very best Four Seasons hotels (ability to anticipate needs in a unintruisive way).
The hotel is indeed very pleasant, and swimming in January is quite a pleasure!

InterContinental Beijing Sanlitun

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Club Room, received Sanlitun View Suite (four-level upgrade)

How are the rooms?
As it was my special occasion, front office locked the suite on the highest level for me days in advance.
I really loved the suite, spacious, and with an amazing 270 degree panoramic view of the city.
The suite does not have a separate living room, but does have a very spacious living area with sofa.

How is the exec. lounge?
Very Good.
The service was amazing.
Breakfast was very good, plenty of a-la-carte options.
Afternoon tea set are also served in the lounge.
The scones were amazing, hot and fresh!
Plenty of cold and hot options for happy hour, though the quality of the food was not as good as breakfast and afternoon tea.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Yes. Received a bottle of sparkling wine, some chocolates, two types of fruit, a fruit tart and a cheese cake (for the occasion)

How was the minibar?
Soft drinks are free to all guests and can be configured by request. The hotel had recorded my perferences so the mini-bar was stuffed with Sparkling water, Coke Zero and juices before my arrival. You can use your RA minibar credit for alcoholic drinks and snacks.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Very good room
Club lounge was great
Guest room service was also great.

-Bad
Maybe the food for happy hour can be improved

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Yes

Would you return?
Definitely yes!

- What is your IHG Rewards Club status?
Spire Royal Ambassador Inner Circle

- Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, as always

- Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked cheapest advance rate and was upgraded to a King Ambassador Club suite terrace
As the floor with terrace premium suites facing the avenue is not reopened yet, I received a terrace suite with garden view.

- How are the rooms?
Around 45 sqm large
Classic and elegant design.

Room with seating area and desk
Separated living room
Massive flat screen television set, with good selection of international channels

Bedroom with large and very comfortable bed

Elegant marble bathroom with bathtub and separate walk-in shower/toilets. L’Occitane amenities.

Very quiet
View over the interior garden.

Fast wifi
Usb sockets close to the bed

Nespresso coffee machine
No connectable televion set

- How is the exec. lounge?
Club lounge has reopened during afternoon and even times.
Canapés, pastries, served during the afternoon.
Hot meal, wines and spirits served in the evenings.

Breakfast is served in a dedicated private area of the restaurant.

- What was good and what was bad?

GOOD
  • Service was really excellent from all members of staff
  • Luxurious atmosphere in public places, but a soft renovation would be more than welcome (compared for example to the recently opened Rosewood Villa Magna)
  • Nice courtyard garden
  • Location is very convenient from airport (metro station 80 meters from the hotel). The hotel is located within Salamenca, which is the most elegant district for luxury boutiques, quality restaurants, and full of museums and art foundations (Fundación Juan March, Mapfre Fundación Residencia des estudiantes, Museo Cerralbo, etc.).
  • Good breakfast.
  • It is the first time that I received Premium suite with garden view: actually I liked it very much, as you have sun in the morning and the terrace is very quiet.
  • Well equipped fitness centre with sauna.

BAD
Not much, except for non operational minibar

- Value for $ or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, for the warm welcome and pleasant location.

IC Presidente Cancun Resort

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, as always!

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King InterContinental Signature Balcony, received King Club Ocean View Balcony on Club Floor. These rooms were showing unavailable the day we checked in and they initially upgraded us to a King Oceanfront suite with no balcony. I prefer a balcony room vs the larger space and they eventually switched us.

How are the rooms?
Great oceanfront views and balcony with lounge chairs. It was a mix of toiletries, some Agraria and some occidental but they also provided aloe and lip balm.
Housekeeping and turndown service was automatic every day, did not have to be requested.

How is the exec. lounge?
Back to self serve! Breakfast had made to order eggs; cold selections of fruit, yogurt, cottage cheese, salmon, meat, cheese; hot selections of scrambled eggs, pancakes/waffles, potatoes, meat, sauteed vegetables, etc. Bagels, bread, and a lot of pastries are also available plus fresh made tortilla chips and multiple hot and cold red and green sauces to choose from.

Cocktail hour was great with attentive bartenders. Food choices are back to pre-covid so there are enough options to make it dinner, if you want. 2 hot appetizer selections, 2 cold appetizers, plus cheese, meat, crackers, chips, etc.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Fruit and a glass bottles of mineral water.

How was the minibar?
The minibar was empty but the front desk sent up room service attendants to fill it on request. Basic but with about 6 different beer options. Didn't get any hard liquor this time and they never offer wine in the mini bar.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
-- The beach is one of the best in Cancun
-- Hotel room views
-- Bartenders were fantastic at all the bars!
-- Covid test back to US was booked/done on site and was free - we paid $10 each for expedited results in case we had to scramble to find another test. Results were emailed within 15 minutes.

-Bad
-- Still stingy on room upgrades

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Yes, the room rate was great and it included $50 per day for food/beverages.

Would you return?
Yes! The bartenders and concierge all know us by name now

IC DC The Wharf

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes! New GM started in early January and it looks like RA recognition is improving.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King Deluxe, received Water Suite.

How are the rooms?
The Water Suite has become one of my favorites because of the view from the bedroom. It doesn't have a balcony and is smaller than the Compass Suite but I do love the sunset views from the corner bedroom.
Housekeeping is not automatic, they would text me daily to see if I wanted housekeeping.

How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge. There doesn't appear to be a price cap on the breakfast anymore with new GM (was $50/day for most of covid, then changed to $80/day for the last few months). I'm not sure if you can still get room service breakfast as an option though (tried to ask the front desk agent but she just gave me standard room service hours). The restaurant has a good selection of choices and everything was served pretty quickly.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Bottle of Pinot Noir and macarons

How was the minibar?
Minibar is still good. Half bottles of red and white wines; gin, rum, vodka; 4 beers; sparkling water and other non alcoholic options. Had to text to get minibar refilled

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
-- New GM as of mid January, received a handwritten note from him and not the usual standard RA card
-- Hotel room views
-- Room upgrade
-- Location at the Wharf

-Bad
-- When I checked out, there was a lot of activity in the lobby. The front desk agent said she'd take care of removing breakfast and minibar charges and email me the bill. Of course, no email by the time I got to the airport so I texted the hotel to ask for it. All breakfast and minibar charges were still on my bill so actually had to text twice to get everything removed. Just a hassle.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Yes

Would you return?
Yes!

IC Paris Le Grand

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes!

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked Classic King and initially was upgraded to Twin Bed Opera View Deluxe because they thought I wanted opera view (I had emailed the hotel before I arrived to let them know I was arriving early and preferred a street view vs courtyard view). Once I arrived, I was able to switch to a junior suite with balcony and Eiffel Tower view. I loved having this view (especially at night to see the Tower Light show) and the balcony! My other stays at this hotel as RA included a courtyard view (exec junior suite) and regular street view/no balcony (junior suite).

The renovated room was great and very comfortable with a lot of space. My friends checked in the next day (one is an Ambassador) and they did end up with the Twin Bed Opera View. That room is a lot smaller than the Junior Suite but they did have a good view of the opera.

Housekeeping and turndown service was automatic every day.

How is the exec. lounge?
Giles was so accommodating on the days he was there. My friends' room wasn't ready for a while after they arrived (issue with a light) so he gave us all bottles of champagne p;us extra drink vouchers when their room was finally ready.

Breakfast had several hot options available plus made to order eggs. Cold options included salmon, cheese, meat, whole fruit and canned pre-portioned fruit, fresh vegetables, croissants, bread, etc and champagne available all day. As others have mentioned, cocktail hour did not include the hot options any more. There were several cold options (usually only one choice of cheese) but they did have a few cold prepared appetizers after my first night there plus raw oysters.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Bottle of champagne, plate of 12 macarons, tin of individually wrapped shortbread cookies, glass bottle of water, and clementines.

How was the minibar?
The minibar was empty but you could call room service to order items. I only ordered one night out of a 4 night stay (white wine - they said red wasn't available as a minibar option and a few beers). When room service delivered the drinks, they included olives and seasoned cashews.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
-- Everything about the hotel - it was great to be back
-- Hotel room view of the Eiffel Tower (best view I've had so far)
-- Club Lounge and staff
-- There is a pharmacy around the corner where you can obtain the digital health pass

-Bad
-- Nothing

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Yes, for the most part. It's a little pricey but worth it

Would you return?
Yes! Can't wait!

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
OK

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King Deluxe for Super Sunday, initially given a Sky Corner. I asked for a suite but they were all sold and then I asked for a King Business which I like better than a Sky Corner and was given that on the 33rd floor.

The King Business has a good amount of space and a long window wall facing east in my case. And it has a large walk in shower.

How is the exec. lounge?
None.

I had such a terrible breakfast the last time here I didn't even bother trying it this time. And I hosted a small Super Bowl party so wasn't hungry at all the following morning.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Nothing.

How was the minibar?
The minibar is relatively poor in quality. I had a bottle of white which which wasn't great. Beer is only Heineken and Amstel light.

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
-- Huge TV for watching the game.
-- Price wasn't bad for this market.
-- The view

-Bad
-- Nothing too bad, but nothing great either.
-- The Stinger Bar is still closed. Even on Super Sunday! But Smiths across the street has reopened so that's a plus.
-- The amount of points that posted was $50 less than what I paid for the base room rate. So I have to call IHG to correct.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Yes as long as RA's never have to pay the amenity fee.

Would you return?
Probably

Pretty old television set. Unfortunately not possible to connect the television set with iPhone. Large selection of International channels.

Very good breakfast by choice and quality is served at Café Zoé. Very friendly staff..

What was good and what was bad?
GOOD
Very friendly staff: you are welcomed at this hotel like by friends.
First time I had lunch at ArtBistrot, and was pleasantly surprised by quality of food and smiling staff (and liked the outdoor terrace, as Café Zoé at pool area is closed outside breakfast times).

BAD
Non operating Club InterContinental Lounge, I-Spa, Premiere and Cafezoe restaurants, shuttle bus service and in-room minibar (but daily USD 50 credit can be used at ArtBistrot restaurant).

Value for $ or IHG Rewards Points? Would you return?
Yes, for the quality of service and accommodation.
Still Athens needs a Kimpton hotel in a more central area.
Futhermore, it is not acceptable anymore that hotels still not operate services that justify rates.
