One night stay here to complete a task in accelerate (Cash/points). It is well-located, metro stop Sondrio ( 1 stop from Centrale on M3 line or about 600 metre walk). A lift immediately outside the lobby provides access to the station.
Upgrade from base room to top floor deluxe ( Platinum Ambassador). Decent room, with narrow terrace, double glazed but still some minor traffic noise.Good bed, decent bathroom. Nice staff.
Didn't eat or drink but was quite happy with the stay and will return at reasonable rates.

I'm afraid I don't understand - there is officialy the 'Spire Elite' level after 'Platinum Elite'. How do you mean a difference between Spire and Spire Elite?

Thanks,

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?

Spire

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes and no

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked on points, received a "junior suite courtyard view" on 3rd floor with lousy courtyard view...smallest JS I ever had, it was just a standard room!

How are the rooms?
Newly refurbished, renovated on this side of 3rd floor, they were renovating hte 4th floor now with some noise (not too much)
Nice bathroom with walk-in rainfall shower
Minibar
Normal stuff what you would expect (i.e. no good plugs near bed, nor well-designed light switches)

What was good and what was bad?
Good:

- Location
- Excellent rooftop restaurant and bar, service so-so however, views great!
- Nice room, on renovated side.

Bad:
- Not smiling staff. Made a bare minimum, not connecting with guest.
- Fake upgrade. Junior Suite, really?? fakest thing I have had so far.
- Nothing offered for Spire, bare minimum (with the "upgrade"), which made us feel "just to get these Spire customers off"
- Ill-designed sauna/fitness center -> there were nobody since???

Value for € or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
For 30k it is good value for points if you get the renovated room. Otherwise not. Don't expect too much elite pampering here it seems.

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?

Spire

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
no

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Bookedon points, received a "clubroom" upgrade by email and this showed online. This upgrade has been the standard since time began ...

Sadly, at check-in, they demanded payment for club access.

How are the rooms?
Nice enough, well sound-proofed (just as well, it's under the DXB flight path)
Bathroom with walk-in shower
Minibar
plugs by bed

What was good and what was bad?
Good:

- Nice room.

Bad:
- location: grim area, far from anywhere you might want to be.
- very badly handled upgrade. Clubroom with no club facilities: a bit of a nonsense

Value for € or IHG Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
Very expensive on a value proposition. Only reason for staying would be the club upgrade, but this is no longer offered. Manager cites realignment of benefits (note: he also manages the CP Festival City, a hotel upset by CP Deira's previous generosity)
For 25k it is good value for points if you don't mind the seedy area. Otherwise forget it: better value elsewhere.

NYC: Holiday Inn Express 5th Ave on 45th St

What is your Priority Club status? Platinum

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?

Yes, for one night it was perfectly acceptable.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked standard king room. Upgraded to King Suite.

How are the rooms? Very beige. Room was quiet, at the back of hotel and not facing street. Low floor so not much natural light. Carpet well worn and could be replaced.

How is the exec. lounge? No lounge

What was good and what was bad? I really like when HIX has a walk in shower instead of a tub. The extra space (separate bedroom) is always welcome in NYC where the lower end hotels usually have tiny rooms. Wifi worked well. No hot items for breakfast, only cereal, breads, and fruit.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return? Very good value with the upgrade. Room was booked on a AAA rate. I would return, but more likely to stay in Times Square area instead.

ANA Crowne Plaza Hiroshima

What is your IHG Rewards Club status?

Spire Royal Ambassador

Were you happy with the hotel/stay?
No. My worst Crowne Plaza experience in Japan.
(1week after re-visit, changed to So-so.)

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked single room. Initially front office staff offered small twin bed room on low level floor as "upgrade". I rejected. Then, they offered King Bed Club Room.

How are the rooms?
25.6sqm dated and cramped. Furnitures got damaged, Mediocre view, and old fashioned bathroom. Nothing Special.

Re-visited 1week after, I received same category but another room. It was well maintained.

Video of King Club Room (received on 2nd stay)

How is the Club Lounge?
No Access in 1st stay. Given the access in 2nd stay. Small but cozy place. Food and Beverage offering is much better than IC Tokyo Bay.

How was the mini-bar?
It was JOKE. No hard liquors, No wines. Just crappy beer and small selections of soft drinks.

What was your welcome gift?
None

Did you receive fruit in the room?
None

What was good and what was bad?
Good
+++++ Hotel management took corrective action immediately by my strong complaint and feedback. (I reported to CEO of IHG Japan )

Bad
---------- No Elite Member recognition on 1st stay
---------- Dated and damaged Room on 1st stay
----- Nothing special in "Club Room"

Value for $ or Rewards Club Points? Would you return?
If nightly rate is less than JPY10000, Yes. If not, need to consider.

What is your Priority Club status?
l Elite

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very very happy.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked King Standard
Got King Superior

How are the rooms?
Having looked at the photos online and on other sites, I'm convinced I got one of the largest rooms in the hotel, all the other rooms I've seen that have been called superior looked smaller and not so spaced out.

Excellent decoration, ceiling effects and wall effects, massive classical style windows that have nice lighting effects, top quality furniture, exceptionally comfortable bed (probably best out of any IHG hotel I've been in) very powerful rainfall and standard shower, floor heating in bathroom.

Bedside media hub to allow you to connect your phone via bluetooth to the TV and speakers in the bathroom and main room.HDMI port to beam your laptop to the TV if you fancy, 2x USB charging ports, headphone sockets for the TV beside the bed, nespresso machine, good a/c + heating system.

How is the exec. lounge?
Not applicable

What was good and what was bad?

Good
The staff here are exceptional. It's like talking to an old friend rather than a hotel staff member. They have a beautiful library and a restaurant that has many fine works of art. Every single floor is based on a Polish artist and their works.

Breakfast is superb, amazing services and the hot menu items are cooked to order and based on the products sold in the market right next to the hotel and whilst I did not eat at the restaurant outside breakfast, my fellow guests were raving about the chef.

Bad
The Directory of services is on TV and moves quite fast, hard to read it before it flicks over and cannot be paused.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
At Pointbreaks rate of 5k per night it's crazy good value, the hotel is so good it almost feels like I've robbed IHG by staying there for that!

Would you return?
Without a doubt. I'd easily pick here now instead of the HI, even though the HI itself is a fine hotel.
