Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay ?
Yes. Congratulations to the management and staff! It's less than one month since the brand change and all seems well.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked deluxe, given Executive River view room on 12th floor.

How are the rooms?
Large and very nicely appointed which was a bit of a surprise as they won't start renovations til January.
Proper luxury bathroom with his and hers modern Duravit sinks and Castelbel amenities.
Nice views over the park, river and the rest of the town.
Welcome gift of Port wine, hors d'oeuvres, sweets and a large bottle of water.

How is the mini-bar?
Pretty good with a largish bottle of Johnny Red, a gift set of 2 10 year old Graham's Port in a tin, half bottle of Champagne, and the usual spirits and soft drinks. But no Red Bull. There is a Nespresso-type machine though.

How is the exec. lounge?
Really, really good service. This hotel is next door to the Four Seasons and they appear to strive to that level of service. Each day we were welcomed by name and they knew our breakfast order, coffee, tea, etc. The same high quality service in the evening. Alcoholic drinks with cold and warm appetizers go from 5:30 til 7, but the club remains open til midnight. Heidsieck Monopole Champagne, decent Portuguese wines, the usual spirits, etc. On the 3rd night, the lovely lady working the club brought some even better wine over from the bar for me to try. ^

What was good and what was bad?

Good
Super high level of service for an IC. Almost to Four Seasons level. I hope they can keep that up!
I mentioned that I needed a good high speed internet connection because I had to do a video conference call, and they sent someone up to my room with a cable and an access code that gave me super high speed Internet. Afterwards, at least 3 managers asked me how my conference call went! I was very well taken care of as an RA.

Bad
The base level WiFi is kind of slow.

Value for € or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
An extremely good value now with low prices during the soft opening. But even if the prices go higher this is a great value.

InterContinental Marseille - Hôtel Dieu

What is your Priority Club status?
Platinum Royal Ambassador

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay ?
Yes, as usual.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked week-end escape rate, and received an Executive room with terrace and harbour view.

How are the rooms?
Around 45sqm
Seating area with desk and sofa. Expresso machine
Bedroom with very comfortable bed.
Pleasant terrace with superb view over the Vieux Port (old harbour)
Great bathroom with Boffi sink, large bathtub, separate rainforest shower /toilets.
Flatscreen television with large selection of French and international channels.
No iPhone dock
Elegant contemporary design

How is the exec. lounge?
N/A

What was good and what was bad?

Good
- Perfect location- Very nice historical building
- Great staff
- Very good breakfast
- Very good restaurant (defintely not cheap though)
- Pleasant indoor pool and spa
- Fast wifi

Bad
- No more Clarins Eau Dynamisante amenities but Agraria ones in Executive rooms
- Even if the hotel is recent, it already shows signs of age (chipped bathtub, stain on the curtain, chipped furniture and door, mirror that no longer holds, etc.
- This is the second time I have (very) noisy neighbours, who put loud music on the terrace. A small note asking to exercise discretion on the terrace would probably be more than welcome, given the fact that some customers apparently have an etiquette issue.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points? Would you return?
Yes, definitely.

That's odd, given that the Spa is Clarins. I had a recent stay in the Harbor Prestige Suite and there was still Clarins there.

These executive rooms must have the highest occupancy rate of the hotel, as they have some of the best views, so that could explain these signs, but only after 2 years...
However, I thought that first issues would come from mold, as I have always experienced issues there with the shower flooding half of the bathroom...

Elemis spa in PL, and agraria in all the rooms. Think must be suites only that have Clarins now.

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very happy

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
My philosophy is to book for what I want, so paid for a club executive and got the presidential suite. Enormous room with a Grand Piano, 10 seater dining table etc etc. Witnessed plenty trying to talk their way into the lounge or get more upgrades though, sad to watch.

How are the rooms?
Massive bed, jacuzzi, 3 sofas, two TVs, Bose everywhere, large dining table, kitchen and a RA enhanced away very mini mini bar.

How is the exec. lounge?
Included in the rate I paid, brand new, fabulous staff. Great breakfast with eggs cooked by chef in lounge. Didn't try afternoon tea, drinks in evening all fine with good snacks.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
Fruit etc, can;t recall if there was a gift in the room, the upgrade was overwhelming.

How was the minibar?
It seems they hava a special RA minimar and clean most of it out. Lots of empty space, 3 beers and some water/soft drinks. No wine, no liquor, no champagne.

What was good and what was bad?
Good
- Breakfast in the Club
- Great staff
- Stunning upgrade
- Room service dinner (well had to use the dinning table) was great and good value

- Hotel is very precise with the upgrade policy, pay for club and get a good upgrade, pay for the cheapest room then don't expect club or a suite, they have lots of executive rooms to stick you in

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
I thought it was good value compared to Europe and some of Asia. The new club lounge is trying to create a more unique and upmarket experience so prices are increasing to keep it exclusive.

Would you return?
Of course

Additional comment:
Lot's of people have knocked this hotel - probably with good reason in he past - the trick is to pay a reasonable rate and then it seems it is rewarded, if you book the cheapest or go on points then only expect the minimum RA benefit.

Melbourne

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Very happy

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Paid for standard room and purchased in advance by email a club upgrade for $50. Prior to buying club upgrade was to Executive room, after purchasing club upgraded to Junior Suite.

How are the rooms?
50 sqm, sofa, chair, desk, large bed, good sized bathroom and dressing room. Overlooks outside atrium in adjacent building.

How is the exec. lounge?
Fabulous staff, on call eggs chef, breakfast OK, substantial enough. Afternoon tea stuff is minimal Monday to Thursday but apparently more over weekends - wasn't there for that. Evening drinks - big range, great service and small tasting canopes and lots of salad. I never really expect the lounge to feed me dinner and this one certain doesn't.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
fruit and chocolate

How was the minibar?
Fabulous mini bar, even Mumm champagne and lots of beer and spirits, unfortunately work was too intense that apart from the fruit juices I didn't use it.

What was good and what was bad?

Good
- Breakfast in the Club
- Great staff
- Good upgrade
- Location

- Hotel is precise with the upgrade policy, pay for club and get a good upgrade, pay for the cheapest room then don't expect club or a suite, they have lots of executive rooms to stick you in. Embarrassingly witnessed one guy trying to talk his way in to the lounge on the basis that he was an RA and everywhere else in Asia lets him in without paying (which we all know is a lie).

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
I thought it was good value compared to Europe and some of Asia.

Would you return?
Of course

Additional comment:
Melbourne is a great city, the hotel is in the perfect location, a stylish building, well run hotel with some style.

IC Chicago Magnificient Mile

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Yes, it was a pleasant stay.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?

Booked standard room, upgraded to 1 Bedroom Suite Historic Tower.

How are the rooms?
Room was decent size (730 sqft), but felt outdated. Not a modern hotel by any means. It was clean, just not that exciting.

How is the exec. lounge?
No lounge at this hotel.

Did you receive a welcome gift?
No welcome gift.

How was the minibar?
One of the more impressive minibars. Half bottle red/white (robert mondavi, sonoma cutrer). Half bottle of champagne (Gloria Ferrer). And a half bottle of Grey Goose. Nips were all high quality (Goose, Belvedere, etc.)

What was good and what was bad?

-Good
Great value, good minibar.

-Bad
Rooms are a bit boring, parking is $65 per night.

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Yes, great value. Room was only $130.

Would you return?
Yes if I was in Chicago.

Ic frankfurt

IC FRANKFURT

Elite Status
RA

Were you (or for multi-stayers are you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
Pleaseant stay.

Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked - Superior on company rate
Upgraded Online (3 days out) - Intercontinental Deluxe

+ Checkin I asked how much to buy Lounge Access - Was told 50euro
+ I mentioned next room type Club Studio King (includes Lounge ) is 20euro more so I upsell myself for 20Euro to Club Studio King and get better room + Lounge (see Additional Info I put at bottom of this entry)

How are the rooms?
o Large room overlooking river on one of top 3floors (19-21) Lounge is on 21st
o Nicely decorated, comfortable King Bed with good lighting
o Large TV, but only BBC1/BBC2 HD, (no ITV) and annoyingly BBC1 HD is not 24hour signal so could not watch weekend matc of day at midnight. IC Berlin has the other UK channels (ITV) so why not IC Frankfurt?
o Full size sofa and two chairs with table
o Work desk with intergral power points. Just a normal uncomfortable chair as against usual computer desk type chair I prefer.
o Bathroom with bath, seperate closed off shower and toilet. Hermes toiletries.
o Closet area of entry way, awkward to access safe in wardrobe-cupboard
o Minibar, tea/coffee facilities

How is the exec. lounge?
o Nice room on 21st Floor, half set up as Lounge/Relax area, other half as dining tabled area
o Nice Sunday evening food on, Pasta and meat slices, plus deserts and bread/cheeses.
o Evening drinks , minimal spirit choice but had Heineken beer for me.
o Warning- Welcome Lounge Info said if take drink/food out of lounge you get charged as if ordering item(s) via room service
o Not that great a coffee machine for Lounge though

Fruit, Water, Welcom Gift?
o 12.00 noon checkin, because I upsold myself, was given a room already available, had fruit/red-wine for some other RA/Ambassador ref the associated card.
o Staff delivered water after about 2 hours.
o No gift

How was the minibar?
o Average I guess
o 5 mini-spirits, Vodka, Gin, JW-Red
o sets of 3x each of; German Brand Beer, Cola, Juices etc

What was good and what was bad?
Good
+ Usable Internet (just the one speed)
+ Easy and fast Checkin (1200noon) / Checkout (0515am)
+ Taxi to airport just 26euro and took 15minutes (driver did 140km/hr)
+ I left IC hotel 0525 and was airside at 05.50 ^
+ Just 20euro (this time) to upsell to what elsewhere might be called a J/suite
+ RA benefits and Lounge Info letters both provided listing all the bennies
Bad
- Nothing

Value for $ or Priority Club Points?
Company Rate ++ 20euro upsell to get King Club (which is 47m room i would not argue if called Junior suite) is Super Value this first visit
(45k/night award, pts value us$315 about 250euro at P+C rates, is about double my paid rate, so Paid nights only for me here)

Would you return?
Yes
I will still use Airport HI's and shuttle if arriving late 9pm + leaving early7-9am, but if I am getting a longer days days use of the my IC room, I would definitely would want to revisit this IC

Additional Info
o Appears from Welcome Letter's that Lounge Access is an RA benefit at the moment so I need not have paid the 20euro to receive Lounge Access
o However I got a very nice room worth the 20euro extra, but would have been annoyed if room price differential was higher and had thus paid the mentioned 50euro Lounge upsell instead.
o On checkout I doubled checked, it was confirmed to me that Lounge Access is an RA bennie right now.
