Does FT have a summary of fare codes somewhere?

I'm a newbie here, and a thread I recently initiated yielded responses referring to fare classes such as XN, YN, and HN. (These were sometimes referred to as fare buckets, but I'm assuming that's just another name for fare classes. Yes?)

I'm sure there's a summary of fare classes somewhere, but I can't find it. Help?

Check the FlyerTalk Glossary. It will have at least some of them.

Sadly, none of the ones I mentioned are there. I assume this means there is no FT page that summarizes them? (There is an overview of them at http://thepointsguy.com/2015/05/what...t-your-ticket/).

For United, check here. For other airlines, I'd check the individual subforum under the Airlines and Mileage Programs forum.

Not that this helps for a glossary, but XN is United's saver economy fare bucket for elites and credit card holders. YN is the bucket for standard economy awards for elites and credit card holders (last seat availability). HN is the standard economy award bucket for everyone else.

If you are looking for carrier-specific codes, you better check the respective airline fora:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/airli...-programs-374/

FT contains a huge amount of info that can only be housed by certain logic and structure. This sticky thread in ID Forum should give you some good pointers:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/infor...faqs-more.html

Noted all the sticky threads in each forum are worth reading. Welcome to FT!

Other than Y, J, C, F codes mean completely different things on different carriers.

This.

And even within a carrier, fare codes change and are updated regularly, so the list would be pretty meaningless after a few months. A paid subscription to OAG or EF is your best bet (other than connection to a real GDS of course).
