LAX to Hawaii
My wife & I are planning a trip to Hawaii from LAX. We'll be travelling with a 2 year old.
I have:
160k AA miles
120k United
100k Delta
Is it possible to get a business or First class seat in any airline? We're travelling this Thursday or Friday and returning Monday.

I am not seeing much on UA on either Thursday or Friday in the premium cabins.
On Monday I am seeing premium space on the over the water segments on the following flights.
UA 396 HNLSFO
UA 825 LIHLAX
UA 1736 OGGSFO
UA 1724 KOASFO
If you catch one of the flights to SFO you shouldn't have much difficulty finding award space down to LAX.

Use AA there and then UA back. Seems like a waste of miles for that short trip. When my child was 2 Y class was fine. They are so small you can spread out over 2 seats. Save those miles and go Y. It's only 5 hours, been around the world with my 2 year old and Y was great every time. Nothing worse then a meltdown in F with a child. Save those miles for those unexpected domestic flights. I can't count how many times those 25k domestic flight saved me 1k+ for funerals, weddings, last minute crap.

There are three of you. Suck it up and fly Y where you get three seats together. Spend a little more for E+ or MCE. I did it with my two grandkids and survived.

I have moved this thread over to the Information Desk for further response. The Mileage Run Forum is used to post active airfare deals.

That depends on you, your interests, travel experience and why you are going. Some people go for a week, some for two weeks, some for a month or more and love it. Others, not so much. Personally, having lived in Hawaii, we can take it or leave it. If we do go, 3 days is more than enough for us.

No. Personally I'd wait until I had more time. But if that's all the time you have then that's what you have, make the most of it.
I wouldn't waste miles for premium cabin travel on such short flights.
Try mixing and matching one-ways as mentioned above (you can now redeem DL SkyMiles for one-ways at half the miles - though I don't recall offhand what the mainland-HI rates are - there are 5 tiers now - worth checking though)

4 days may be too short especially if you're going for the first time or traveling with a child. I would try and extend the stay or wait for a better time.
It's a relatively short flight and would personally just fly Y/Y+ if given the option and save the miles for an emergency or intl award.

Lots of awesome suggestions in this thread. As recommended by some of you, I ended up booking first class on UA from LIH to LAX. Now I'm booking a flight from LAX to LIH.
Should I book from LAX to LIH or Honolulu? Where do most of the people fly to?
Also, any awesome travel guide for Hawaii to make the most of these 4 days?

Honolulu is a big city. More people fly to HNL than to LIH. As you may have noticed, HNL has many more flights. But what is it that you really want to know? Are you planning to split your four days between HNL and LIH?

For any particular major island in Hawaii, the best travel guide is the Revealed series of books. For Kauai (which I presume is the island you'll focus on, since you're flying back from LIH), that would be "Kauai Revealed". Unless it's the Kindle version you're going to get (which you can simply download, of course), you'll have to hurry and choose fast shipping from Amazon (or wherever) to get it in time.
That's another problem of booking a trip so close in time; for places like Hawaii the best travel guide is a book, not a website, and thus you have to allow the time to get the book!

You're really going to rushing it in 4 days if you try to see more than one island.

I also like the Revealed series.
