I'm a newbie and just starting out in this new world and I was wondering if any of the old timers could recommend a Credit card that I should start out with. I dont do much day to day spending and I was hoping to start with MS but with all this talk I am reading about CVS not accepting CC, I am wondering if I should go this route either. Any suggestion.....
Thanks!

There is a lot of reading to do... it can be overwhelming, but doing the research will pay dividends in the end.First, I would figure out what you want to achieve. You can piece together a CC strategy that will fit your goals, be they traveling first class around the world, flying domestically on the cheap, or just maximizing cash back opportunities. After you figure out what you want to do with the points and miles look further down the forum to the credit cards forum and look at some of the sticky threads to get an overview of cards to see if they fit your goals. There are a lot of CCs out there and not every one of them will suit your needs. Also, as you mentioned with the CVS going cash only for VR, the game changes all the time, so look into the MS forum as well to see what opportunities are available to you. Some folks are devastated because they can no longer buy VR at CVS and others are completely unphased by it because they could never buy them in the first place. It's all YMMV (You Mileage May Vary)
I never realized how many puns there are in the FF world. This is great material here! Welcome to FT and good luck!

NO ANNUAL FEE.

This "first card" will be the card you have for the REST OF YOUR LIFE. Seriously. You'll never want to close it, ever, because of your credit history.
Don't even bother with MS until you build other aspects of your financial profile, first.
Thats just my opinion, of course.

Don't forget as you are getting your first card your choices may be limited. Not sure if you have any credit history but with 0 credit history your choices will be limited. Like fotoflyer said pick one with no annual fee. You will want to keep this card for a long time for the Average Age of Credit portion of your credit score.
Of course you can start with secured cards in which your deposit is your credit limit and you pay some 3$ per month charge. Then you have cards that are friendly towards people with 0 credit/rebuilding credit. However these often lack good rewards.
Some cards i heard are friendly towards beginners with decent rewards are
Chase Freedom, Discover It. Use creditkarma.com to your advantage you get a guestimate credit score and it helps you find cards that you could potentially be approved for.
