Don't forget as you are getting your first card your choices may be limited. Not sure if you have any credit history but with 0 credit history your choices will be limited. Like fotoflyer said pick one with no annual fee. You will want to keep this card for a long time for the Average Age of Credit portion of your credit score.

Of course you can start with secured cards in which your deposit is your credit limit and you pay some 3$ per month charge. Then you have cards that are friendly towards people with 0 credit/rebuilding credit. However these often lack good rewards.
Some cards i heard are friendly towards beginners with decent rewards are
Chase Freedom, Discover It. Use creditkarma.com to your advantage you get a guestimate credit score and it helps you find cards that you could potentially be approved for.
