Brussels - NYC: should I wait or should I go?
Hi everyone,
I'm new to Flyertalk but I have been to a travel hacking conference (TravelMagic in Brussel) and I'm enrolled as an elite member in several hotel programs so I'm not completely unaware of how to travel on a budget
I'd like to travel to NYC or Washington this June from Brussels or any nearby airport (AMS, CDG, DUS). I'm available from June 21st till July 13th. Currently several airlines are running promotions for travel till the end of April (KLM, Air France, Brussels Airlines, etc.), advertising prices starting at €399. For travel in June/July I'm getting prices from 580 euros and upwards. My question is: is that just a more expensive period to travel and should I just grab a €580 ticket or will promotions like the 399 euros deal pop up for that period later on?
Thanks a lot for any advice you can give me. I'm happy with a short reply, any info would be awesome
Thanks
Philippe

the summer is always more expensive. there are promos for Spring because it is not peak travel season.
Of course no one can guarantee prices won't drop, but it is unlikely you will see fares for summer drop to the winter/early spring price.

Pay 580,-€ if the fare is still availlable !
It´s very unlikely (but not impossible, of course) that you´ll snatch a better deal.
This is the end of shoulder season already heading for high season where planes tend to be filled much easier for airlines ...
589,-€ with KL from AMS is a good price.
But it depends in which alliance you prefer to collect miles/status points/segments.
AB from DUS is 590,-€ and BA via LHR ex AMS is 591,-€.
Ex BRU BA is not much more expensive at 639,-€ but could probably save you driving to and from AMS/DUS and reduce/limit the price gap considering your car needs gasoline and trains are not for free either ...

Thanks for all the info!
Via edreams.com I found a flight on US Airways for €569 departing from BRU. Saves me the trip to DUS and I guess train tickets are not included on AirBerlin ticket prices (unlike KLM and Air France who offer departure from Brussels or Antwerp by Thalys train).
