in the past they have considered transit in the same category as if your travel was originating from that country so transiting in germany would include you in the 'at risk country' category....

i have a atl-cdg-del flight towards the end of the month so i'm hoping either rules change or they have a better/faster testing system in place by then....

When you fill out the AirSuvidha form it classifies you correctly and two bold letters are placed on top of the form. Based on this the health dept people will sort out pax upon arrival. Theoretically nothing to worry about. Just bring some patience, I don't think the gang in LKO knows all the ins and outs and will take their sweet time before letting you go.

It seems they are only testing arrivals from the listed countries. So if you come from DXB as transit you fall thru the cracks. 🤦‍♂️

Time to make money:

In addition to normal RT-PCR , the CSMIA said that 30 machines are being made available for the passengers having connecting onward flights with short connecting time.
A senior official of the Delhi aiport said that passengers are being charged Rs 500 for the RT-PCR tests and Rs 3,900 for Rapid PCR tests. Results of the RT-PCR tests will be available in five to six hours. Around 80% of the passengers chose Rapid PCR tests on the first day of guideline implementation while the others opted for the regular RT-PCR tests at the airport.

Down south, passengers in Bengaluru will need to pay Rs 3,900 for the rapid test and Rs 500 for the RT-PCR. International passengers flying to Chennai from 'at-risk' countries will have to shell out Rs 4,000 for the Rapid test in comparison to Rs 900 for the regular RT-PCR tests.

So, how will this work for Mumbai. JFK - DEL and the separate domestic connecting flight DEL- BOM.
- Will Mumbai/Maharashtra treat the incoming passenger as international and apply the 14 days home quarantine?
- As now domestic passengers requires a 72 hrs PCR to board flight to Mumbai, will the one done in US (if within 72 hrs of the DEL - BOM boarding) work or will it require a new PCR from DEL.

You complete everything in DEL and MH/Mumbai doesn't even know that you are coming. In DEL upon deplaning they check if you are vaccinated and you get a stamp on your boarding pass to mark you as free to roam the country under self monitoring.

MH government is hell bent on creating their own fortress... this morning - they were demanding any pax arriving domestically to have RT-PCR.. then the minister retracted for domestic.. but govt notification came with mandatory RTPCR in 48hrs for domestic..

meanwhile - central govt is demanding MH remove mandatory institutional quarantine..

its just a circus..

seems like the government is not considering transit as coming from an at-risk country....so that's good news....

The Maharashtra government’s new set of rules includes one-week mandatory institutional quarantine for passengers flying in from “at risk” countries while the Karnataka government has mandated a seven-day home quarantine for flyers from those countries even if they have tested negative. The at risk countries include U.K., South Africa,China, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Singapore, Hong Kong and Israel.

Some family flew EU-DXB-MAA.

THey had to complete immigration, get luggage and then get tested and wait.
It took 7 hours for them to be released to go home.
Test cost 700 rupees.; No rapid PCR available at MAA.

No food / drink for free. Tea/coffee / samosas etc for sale.
